Social Media Tips

Thanks to all those who have contacted us to share your business experiences with social media. We have come across very interesting ideas and tips. These are some of them we'd like to share with you:

-Social media is a democratic tool, easily accessible to both small and big businesses but it is not a panacea.

-Benefits will depend on the type of industry and your customers' profile

-Age divide regarding the use of social media is becoming less apparent but is still there.

According to the CSO figures for 2008, highest Internet use rates go from 80% among the younger population (16-34 year olds) to 41.7% for those between 55 and 64, and 21.5% for 65 to 74-year olds.

-It should be part of your marketing plan but not THE only plan.

-Personality: people like to deal with people and want to know there is a face behind a Twitter or Facebook account.

-Interaction: allow comments and always reply to those who Tweet at you and comment on your posts.

-Be honest, dishonesty is easily spotted online.

-Search Engine Optimisation potential - it will help people find you when searching online.

Story of the Month:
Roan Building Systems expanding

Ian LewisRoan Building Systems expansion plans take a major step forward with the appointment of Ian Lewis as Business Development Manager South. With over 15 years of industry experience, Lewis brings a wealth of modular and portable building systems knowledge to the Roan team.

In his role of Business Development Manager South, he will focus on the development of the southern UK market; from London to the south coast.

He joins Roan Building Systems from Rollalong Ltd. where he was sales manager for three years.

The appointment forms a major component of Roan Building Systems' 3 year strategic plan, which will also see the establishment of a new hire and sales location in the Luton/London area. The new depot is scheduled to be operational by September and will allow Roan Building Systems to provide a greater level of customer service to the London area while offering local transport rates.
