How to be Thankful No Matter What

When things in your life are going well, it's easy to be thankful.  The tricky part is being thankful even if you are faced with serious challenges.  Life can be unpredictable; jobs change, relationships end, problems can crop up, losses can happen.  Major decisions sometimes have to be made that can cause anxiety.  The key to retaining a sense of peace within, even when your life is in turmoil, is to find a way to be thankful for what you do have.  Depending on what challenges you're facing, this can be hard to do.  Here are just a few ideas that might help you recognize your life's gifts, even when you're in the middle of situation that needs to be resolved.

Meditate. Taking time out of your day, every day, to sit quietly and listen to your breath can really help to center you.  Just on a physical level, slowing your breath down often results in reduced anxiety.  Once you find your quiet space within, stay there for a little while and invite thanks into your heart and being.  See how thankfulness manifests itself in this experience.  Then you can draw on it later, if you are faced with challenges.

Make a list.  Writing things down can be very powerful for some people.  Make a list of all the things you are thankful for. Your list might include things like: good health, a short commute, close friends, your creativity, your garden, your job, a pet, marketable skills, the perfect pillow, a good night's sleep.  Let whatever comes to you be important enough to write down.  You might be surprised at what appears on your list.  Then keep this list handy so you can look at it whenever you're feeling down.  Post it somewhere in your house or carry it with you in your purse or wallet.

Volunteer at a soup kitchen or other organization.  Helping out another human being who may be struggling for different reasons than you can really put things in perspective.  You may have lost your job, but at least you don't have six kids living in one room and relying on welfare to pay for food.  Volunteering can simultaneously create thankfulness about your own life while helping others.  The folks you're assisting will certainly be thankful for your help.

There are many other ways to get in touch with the feeling of thankfulness.  Talk to your friends, read specific life-enhancing books or talk to one of our Master Psychics.  They can tap in to the Universal Energy to help you connect to your inner peace and natural appreciation for your life.

StarsENJOYING EACH MOMENT
Enjoying Each Moment

Life today brings with it so much to do.   Most people are so busy trying to keep up or catch up with everything.  We have our jobs, our families, our friends, errands to run and dealing with finances.  Many of us are also dealing with problems and situations we are trying to resolve.  Some of us in relationships are trying to figure out how to make them work or if we want to get out of them.  Others are looking for relationships and trying to find the person we hope to be happy with and spend the rest of our lives in love.

How then, can we possibly be happy and enjoy each moment now.  Part of you may be saying, "Impossible, we can't!"  However, we really can.

The secret is to get out of our mind drama, be in our bodies and notice what is actually happening in this moment, right now.  Yes, right now.  Even in this moment while I am writing to you and in the moments when you are reading what I am writing.

Let me explain, "mind drama" to you.  My definition is being in my head, worrying and thinking of all the situations I need to take care of, how to take care of them, what to do and then,  my mind floats from one situation to another, round and round and round.  Am I on a merry go round or on a roller coaster?  I guess that depends on what day it is and what exactly I am dealing with at that moment.

The answer to get out of, "mind drama" is to take a deep breath and look around at the actual physical place I am at this moment.  In this moment I am sitting at my desk, using my laptop to write these words.  It is about 9:00 PM on a Thursday night.  I have eaten dinner, so I'm not hungry.  It's not time for bed yet, so I'm not tired.  The space I am in is neat, clean, comfortable and pleasant.

I can take a deep breath and know in this moment everything is ok....and because everything is ok in this moment and in each and every moment, after moment, after moment, my energy becomes calm and relaxed.

So, the other part of this secret, the magical part of the secret, is while I am calm and relaxed I have created a clear, open space for Universal Spiritual Energy to go to work on all the, "mind drama" situations I think I personally need to take care of.....so when it is time for me to actually get to those situations, they are already much easier to handle and, may even resolve themselves, so I don't really need to do anything at all, except keep myself in each moment, after moment, after moment, relaxed and calm.

I have a friend who recently said, "Don't push the river; it can flow all by itself."  Remember all is well always, no matter how it might appear in your mind.   Breath, smile and be happy.  Remember you are not alone.  Remember you are loved.  Remember to let the river of your life flow and trust it will take you to magical places where your dream will come true.

All the very best to you!
Love and Blessings,
Susan Page
