  New Works from 8 Artists

Only one week into March and we have been so fortunate to have busy artists bringing us new work for you! This last week has brought non-stop enjoyment with visits from 8 of our artists.

Here's a sampling of the new visual stimulation we have at the gallery. Of course you can click the artist name or picture to see more, but there's nothing like seeing it in person...

Dana Cooper intrigues the viewer with her "slice of life," contemporary oil on board. Her work is, in general, small but carries a grand aura. They are often scenes of her travels in the U.S. and abroad. We are so happy to have Dana as a regular in the Chemers Gallery stable for just under a year.

Maria Counts is rocking! We got 8 new ceramic works and 4 of them sold the same day. It seems Maria is channeling the Chemers Gallery client! From her whimsical clocks & vessels to her serious figurative work, Maria has the talent.

Dori Dewberry 's rich pastels are skillfully executed. In addition to her regional landscapes, Dori's still-life and more recent museum settings draw us into her scenes. Many thanks to USPA for introducing us to Dori.

We are loving Dori & Dana's museum scenes so much, we are thinking of having a show that features gallery/museum tableau painted by a variety of artists. What do you think?

Kay Flierl 's newest "Garden Lyrics" are quite contemporary yet give a sense of old world comfort with her warm use of color and flowing lines. Her love of nature is very evident in both her abstract and contemporary oil on canvas landscapes.

Steve Kell continues to draw attention to Southern California vantage points with his thoughtful oil paintings. Steve's award winning work is like an old friend... familiar, warm and inviting.

Lisa Mertins was part of our Eye Candy Craft Faire last month with new porcelain ceramics. Almost every piece was sold so she just brought new pieces in the same manner. They are small treasures with bees, hearts and fields.

John Sawyer 's work is reminiscent of old woodblock prints. His oil paintings of Peters Canyon, Cowan Heights & Cedar Grove areas are in rich greens & earth tones that beg for a second look. John is a past winner of our "Scenes of Tustin" show.

Rafael Lopez has done it again! He has won a Pura Belpre honor for his newest book The Cazuela That The Farm Maiden Stirred. Congratulations! We are so lucky to have almost every illustration from the book here at the gallery. Rafael's use of color & design is captivating.

Mark your calendars for our 5th Annual "Scenes of Tustin" show on Saturday, April 28th featuring Professional & Amateur Artists. Chemers Gallery, Tustin Art League and TACFA join forces to produce this juried exhibition at our gallery. If you would like to enter or know anyone who needs to enter, you can get the entry form & rules by clicking this TAL link.

By the way, thank you to everyone who attended and exhibited in our February Eye Candy Craft Faire. It was the best ever! If you missed it, we have lots of new work from all the participating artisans.
