IF WE TALKED!
The following is the transcript of an imaginary conversation between you and Sampson Insurance Agency about an umbrella policy
Chris at Sampson Insurance Agency, Inc.: I am concerned that you may not have high enough liability insurance limits to protect you in the event of a major lawsuit. You: I already carry $250k/500k/100k in auto liability and $500k as part of my homeowners policy. Isn't that more than enough? Chris: It is only if you aren't sued for more than your policy limits. In this age of jumbo lawsuits, it makes sense to increase your protection. And the best way to do it is with an umbrella policy.
You: How does the umbrella policy work? Chris: This policy adds a layer of a million dollars (or more) of liability protection over and above your regular auto and homeowners liability insurance. It's this "over and above" element that gives the umbrella policy its descriptive name. You: How much does an umbrella policy cost? Chris: Since you own two cars and one home and presently have $250k/500k/100k in auto liability and $500k in homeowners liability - your estimated annual premium is only $200 for a one million dollar policy. You: How much is it if we increase it to two million? Chris: Good question! It's only $180 more for the extra million. Higher limits are available. You: Great. How do I sign up for the policy? Chris: It's easy. Just give me a call at 781-927-7112 or email me at chilchey@sampsonins.com and I'll get everything started for you.

Homeowners Insurance: Insurable Value vs. Market Price The correct amount to carry on your homeowners insurance policy is the Replacement Cost. The Replacement Cost represents labor and material to rebuild your home with like kind and quality, and should not be considered synonymous with the market price, or tax assessed value.
Most insurance policies provide coverage for the home on a "replacement cost" basis. This means that if there is damage to your home that is a 'covered cause of loss', your insurance company will pay the cost to repair or replace it without deducting any amounts for depreciation.
If you have recently remodeled or renovated your home, it is important that you contact your insurance agency. They can help you determine the current replacement cost or insurable value of your home. | |

Business Owners: Are You Protected From Your Employees? We are all aware of the importance of protecting our physical assets with property insurance, and our business liability with casualty insurance, but do we remember the liability that we have in dealing with our employees on a daily basis? The number of Wrongful Termination and Sexual Harassment Claims in the workplace today are astronomical. The following is a real life claims example for each: A Female copywriter at a production company sued for sexual harassment, alleging that two employees of the company made inappropriate comments about her physical appearance. The suit was settled for $110,000*. An employee who voluntarily admitted to having a substance abuse problem won his wrongful termination case finding his termination was in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the case was settled for $250,000*. There is a solution!!! Coverage can be purchased to cover liability for the Business Owner for employment-related practices. Call or email Sampson Insurance today to obtain a premium indication at 781-927-7100 or at bthompson@sampsonins.com. *Claims Examples from Travelers Insurance |

Protect Your Independence and Your Retirement Savings! Did you realize that more than 40% of working age Americans will need long term care services at some point in their lives, and that the cost for long term care is perhaps the biggest expense many retirees will incur? Currently, the national average length of stay for nursing home residents is 892.4 days, and the average per day cost for a semiprivate room in a nursing home in Massachusetts is $254, or over $92,000 per year! Costs for in-home care are much higher; and all long-term care expenses are expected to dramatically increase over the course of the next decade. The good news? The introduction of Long-Term Care Insurance. Long-Term Care Insurance helps to fund the care that is needed when you are no longer able to care for yourself independently. The Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): eating, transferring, dressing, toileting, bathing, continence or substantial supervision for a severe cognitive impairment, such as Alzheimer's disease, can all be covered with Long-Term Care Insurance. The majority of long-term care recipients receive their care in their home, thereby maintaining some independence. The time to consider this coverage is now! Today, the average age of a long-term-care insurance buyer is 56. Fifteen years ago, the average age was 69. The younger you are, the more likely you are to qualify for coverage, and the lower your rates will be. At Sampson Insurance, we can help you to develop a long-term care solution that is based upon your personal situation.
Please give us a call today at 781-927-7100 to discuss your Long-Term Care Insurance needs!
