Celebrating OUR Heroes | This month, as Americans from coast-to-coast celebrate Black History Month, we salute the achievements of our entrepreneurs, special role models and real heroes in their own right. Entrepreneurs like Lisa Best, Gwen Green, and Darryl Love are using their talents and skills to create viable businesses that uphold the American dream while generating money and expanding opportunities for others in their local economy. Darryl is using his decades of experience in sports broadcasting to give back to his community by assisting young athletes, while Lisa and Gwen are creating products that are achieving recognition in the multi-billion dollar fashion industry. These amazing stories set against the current backdrop of major cuts in federal and state funding for entrepreneurship programs, demonstrate to me that there has never been a greater need for what we offer: business education and sustained support for new businesses being started in the kitchens and garages of struggling communities. Did you know that nearly two-thirds of net new jobs created in the United States come from young, new businesses between one to five years old? Just in this past month, our entrepreneurs continue to make strides with the opportunities we are able to offer them, with credit building loans through committed partners, marketing master classes with volunteer mentors, and the opportunity for affordable business spaces at our newest partner - the Business Development Incubator at the New Jersey City University. With your support, we are making a very real difference in the lives of people who come into our programs. I urge you to continue supporting us with a tax-deductible donation. As you help us to reach even more entrepreneurs with tuition-free and easily accessible programs and services, you are making an investment into the lives of people who can uplift entire communities and ultimately the country as a whole. There is an old African proverb that says, "When you pray, move your feet." During this month of recognizing the contribution of Black History to our nation and the world, supporting our cause is a great way to "move your feet while you celebrate."
