Issue No 264 September 2009 |
A Message from Our President..... |
We've firmed up the lineup for our 2010 season; now it's time to firm up the production staffs that will make it happen. We received a number of applicants by the September 15 deadline for staff positions for Pajama Game (March) Guys & Dolls (June), Grease (July), Curtains (August) and even for White Christmas (December 2010). But, we still have room for book directors, music directors, assistant book and music directors, choreographers and various technical positions. So, we've decided to extend the application deadline until Oct. 15 for all three summer shows.
We' have picked the staff for the Spring show, Pajama Game, and that group already is meeting to plan our production of this Broadway revival version. (The deadline for White Christmas isn't until six months prior to that show's opening, or June 2, 2010, but you're free to apply now.) We're interviewing candidates for our summer season producer as you read this. Once that selection is made, we'll be ready to consider applicants for the various summer show staff positions.
If you think you'd like to be on a directing staff or a technical staff member for any of our shows except Pajama Game, please download an application blank from our website. See the "Come and Join Our Production Staff" tab on our home page at http://qcmusicguild.com/ to print out the application. You can email it to info@qcmusicguild.com or snail mail it to P.O. Box 307, Moline, IL 61265-0307. You can also call the box office at 762-6610 and leave your name and number if you have questions. We'll call you back.
Thanks for your interest in Quad City Music Guild.
Sincerely, Jerry Taylor | |

Meet the Nominees... |
.
|
At our annual meeting on October 27, we will be electing four members to our Board of Directors. If you filled out a Voting Member Application and are eligible, or if you are a Member/Patron, you will be receiving voting information via US Mail in the coming days. The following individuals have been nominated for your consideration. Good luck to all!
NATHAN BATES Nathan lives in Davenport with his wife Natalie. He works at DHCU Community Credit Union and is finishing up his degree at Western Illinois' Quad Cities campus. Nathan has been active in QCMG since 2004 playing leading and supporting roles in 8 productions, the most recent playing Leo Bloom in The Producers. He has also bus greeted, worked concessions, helped on stage crew, served on the 2008 Season Play Selection Committee and just finished assistant directing Seussical. Outside of QCMG, Nathan has also appeared in shows for Ghostlight Theater and the Dana College Theater. He is a new member of the choral ensemble Quad City Singers and also keeps active playing softball. JAMIE BAUSCHKA Over the past three years, Jamie has had the pleasure of serving on the QCMG board. She has been involved with many productions both on and off stage. She served as Producer for 2 of the summer shows this past season, co-chaired the Play Selection Committee and Volunteer Data Base, as well as working the Box Office and Concessions. Jamie is currently teaching 6th grade at Garfield Elementary in Moline. She feels very fortunate to have a great and supportive husband, Mike, who not only indulges her time spent at Guild, but can also be persuaded to lend a hand. From the time her grandparents brought her to her first show as a young child, Jamie has always been enchanted with the QCMG. CHERIE LYMAN After being appointed to the Quad City Music Guild Board this past year, Cherie has dedicated many hours serving as concessions co-chair. Along with her board responsibilities, Cherie has also served as Props Chair for 2 of this season's productions, The Producers and Seussical. In previous years, she was the Props Chair for My Fair Lady and Co-Chair of props for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. When she is not at Music Guild, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Stew, and children, Chip and Olivia. Cherie has spent the last 6 years working for the Moline School system with autistic children. RANDIN TURNER Randin is a homeschooling mother of three. She has enjoyed being Asst. Music Director for many shows including Into the Woods, Oklahoma, Annie, Miracle on 34th Street, Evita and Seussical. She went on stage for the first time at Guild last spring in The Producers. She also has fun playing flute in the pit, playing piano in the lobby and helping out in the concession stand. When not at Guild (which isn't much these day), she spends her time teaching her children, playing for Blackhawk's Community Chorale and trying to read as much as possible. JOE URBAITIS Joe has served with the Guild board for the past four years, now co-chairing the auditions committee. He joined the group in 2004 with Jekyll and Hyde andhas worked on many shows since, both on and off stage. Joe is a doctor of optometry practicing with his wife in Bettendorf, maintaining all aspects of running their business; from marketing and financial management to human resources, maintenance and information technology. Joe knows the value of effort in seeing a job well done. He has applied this knowledge as a board member of the Bettendorf Schools Foundation and the Bettendorf Rotary. CRAIG WOODARD Craig has been involved with Guild since 2001 when he was a cast member in Carousel. He has served on the Board as Secretary, Vice President and is currently Treasurer. He is also a member of the Marketing and Executive Committees and was the Producer for Seussical this past summer. Craig has served as Assistant Book Director for two productions, concessions chairperson several times, performed dozens of stints as a parking lot attendant and has served on many stage crews. Craig's wife Sue is also very active with Guild. Professionally, Craig is a Vice President with Midland Communications, Davenport.
