Changes in United Way eNews...
Perhaps you have noticed a different format for United Way of Hancock County's eNews. Or, you may be receiving this newsletter for the first time. Either way, we hope you find the information useful.

United Way of Hancock County has joined forces with Constant Contact to communicate efficiently with our community. Through this valuable alliance, Constant Contact has donated a free Email newsletter account. This account will help United Way create interactive email newsletters and online surveys to establish a dialogue with essential volunteers, donors, and community partners like you.

Local Staff Attends National Conference
Keith DuVernay, President & CEO, and Bev Phillips, Volunteer Services Director, attended the United Way Community Leaders Conference, May 14-16, in Baltimore, MD. The purpose of the conference was to help local United Ways focus on advancing the common good of their community.  DuVernay said, "It was apparent from our arrival that the energy radiating from this conference would create a powerful force to find the most effective ways to help people gain access to the building blocks for a good life."

2-1-1, What is it?
So often, someone in Hancock County could use information on anything from finding an after-school program to learning where to go for food. Even in our community, people often don't know where to turn. In many cases, people end up going without these necessary services because they do not know where to start. 2-1-1 helps people find and give help.

United Way of Hancock County wants to bring 2-1-1 to our community. 2-1-1 is an easy to remember telephone number that, where available, connects people with important community services and volunteer opportunities.  Although we are still in the early planning stages to bring 2-1-1 to our community, we are encouraged by the response of other community partners. We will keep you posted on the progress. Read More
