There are many ideas brought by our Chazal regarding how one can improve one's Parnassah from Hashem. All these segulos involve the strengthening of one's Emunah in Hashem, and/or diligence in the performance of a particular mitzvah, whereby one may expect Hashem to act in kind, midah k'neged midah (measure for measure). Inasmuch as we are living at a time when many are finding their financial situation more difficult than ever, each day we will discuss one Parnassah self-help technique mentioned by Chazal. The Power of Amen Yehei Shmei Raba. Rabbi Matisyahu Solomon, Shlita, provided incredible inspiration to recite Amen Yehei Shmei Raba (V'chulu) with special intensity: The Gemara (Shabbos 119B) states that one who says it with all his might (Rashi-all his kavana) will have a bad gezeira against him torn up. The Sefer Chareidim (Chapter 73) writes that this is actually a segula from Chazal and is a most potent factor in the Teshuva process. What does "all his kavana" mean? It means that one must be listening attentivelyto Kaddish beginningwith the words Yisgadal V'Yiskadash, and understanding what the Chazzan is saying. He is praying that the Moshiach come as soon as possible (not only"bchayei d'chol bais Yisroel," not only"ba'agola," but also"bizman koriv") so that Kiddush Hashem will come to the world-so that Kovod Shomayim is reinstated and that Hakodosh Boruch Hu is finally recognized by everyone as the Source of all Blessing. To demonstrate our dedication to the principle of Kaddish, the Shulchan Aruch (Orach Chayim 56:1) states that a person should runto hear Kaddish. We run for what we really want. The Middah K'negid Middah is self-evident- since you fervently want Hashem's status in the world to change from its current state of Chilul Hashem to a glorious state of Kiddush Hashem, Hashem will changeany negative gezeirah against you to a positive one. The power of Birchas Hamazon. The Chidah (quoting from the Ni'titzei Oros on the Gilyon H'Zohar parshas Vaykhel) writes that a segulah for Parnassah and wealth is for one to say Birchas Hamazon in a loud voice, with happiness and with concentration {of the meaning of the words}. A hint to this is the Possuk in Mishlei (10) "Birchas Hashem Hi Ta'ashir", As Birchas Hamazon is the only beracha that is biblically ordained it is referred to as "Birchas Hashem". Segulos Yisroel "Peh":19, Sefer Hachinuch 430 The Power of Emes - Truth. One should scrupulously adhere to the truth in all situations in life, and Hashem will provide him with Parnassah. Sefer Hamidos Hatzlacha:14, Likutei Eitzos Parnassah:26, Imrei Pinchas R' Pinchas M'koritz Emes:11, Hanhagos Tzaddikim Parnassah:5 The Power of Emunah - Parshas Hamon. The Tur in OC1 (and Shulchan Aruch 1:5; Aruch Hashulchan 1:22; Shulchan Aruch HaRav 1:9) quoting from the Yerushalmi in Berachos writes that it is beneficial for one to say Parshas Hamon daily. The Bais Yosef says that this helps to bring one to the Emunah that his livelihood comes from Hashem. The Prishah there says that one who says Parhsas Hamon daily can be certain to have a livelihood. Rabbeinu Bachai (Shemos 17) says that one can be certain to never be wanting for sustenance. Parshas Ha'mon can be found in most siddurim after tefillas Shachris, or Click (or copy and paste) this link for the complete text of Parshas Ha'mon: http://www.tefillos.com/parshas_hamon.pdf Shevet Mussar 40, Yalkut Shimoni Shemos 17: 247 & 258 {The common custom is to say it daily without the Targum} The Power of Emunah - The 13 Principles of Faith. One should have complete Emunah - trust and faith that Hashem does, and will provide his Parnassah. It is a segulah for Parnassah to strengthen one's Emunah by saying the Rambam's 13 Ikrim of Emunah each day (as printed in the siddur) following Shachris. Hanhagos Tzaddikim Parnassah:1, Midrash Pinchas R' Pinchas M'Koritz, Be'eros Hamayom L'Riminov The Power of Ma'aser & Tzedakah. It is tried and tested as a segulah for one to become wealthy for one to be scrupulously careful in the giving of Ma'aser (a tenth of his earnings). Although the Torah forbids one to test Hashem (Devarim 6:17), in regard to the mitzvah of Tzedakah the possuk (Mal'achi 3) states that Hashem says: "Test me in this, and see that I will open up the windows (treasures) of heaven to you without any limit". Chazal also say "As'air Bishvil Shetis'asair" - Give Ma'aser in order that you will become wealthy. Mes. Taanis 9a, Mes. Kesubos 66b see Rashi "Molach", Segulos Yisroel "Heh" 38 The Power of Sholom Bayis - Honor Your Wife. "A man must always be careful about his wife's honor because blessing is found in one's house only on account of his wife. As it is stated (Bereishis 12:16) 'And he (Pharaoh) treated Avram well on her (sarah) account.' And this is what Rava meant when he told the people of the city of Mechuzah Honor your wives in order that you may become wealthy." Mes. Bava Metzia 59a The Power of Emunah - The Igeres Haram'ban. One should have complete Emunah - trust and faith that Hashem will provide his Parnassah. It is a segulah for Parnassah to say the Igeres Haramban each day (as printed in many siddurim). The Ramban writes there that on a day that you study the Igeres, Hashem will answer your requests. Hanhagos Tzaddikim Parnassah:1, Midrash Pinchas R' Pinchas M'Koritz, Segulos Yisroel "Peh":17, Be'eros Hamayom L'Riminov The Power of Tzedakah - Supporting Torah Study. It is a great segulah for one to be successful in his business if one financially supports those who learn Torah as stated by the Minchas Yosef quoting the words of Chazal on the possuk "Smach Zvulun Bitzaisecha Vi'Yissochor Bi'Oholecha"; A typical businessperson is not necessarily happy when going out to work because one is unsure of whether it will be a successful day. However, Zvulun who supported Yissachar to enable him to study Torah was always happy because he was sure of being successful as he supported those who learn Torah. Segulos Yisroel "Heh" 39 The Power of Emes - Honesty in Monetary Matters. One should scrupulously avoid benefiting from another person's money or property without their knowledge and specific permission, including one's parents and other close relatives. If one serves his employer and others around him with complete honesty Hashem will bless him and his children to have abundant Parnassah all their lives.
