Each day, following the new halachos of the day we will review two of the Hilchos Chanukah learnt last year.

TAL UMATAR
At Maariv on Thursday night Dec. 4th, in Chutz L'eretz we begin to include Vesain Tal Umatar into the Shemonah Esrei in the beracha of "Boraich Aleinu". (In Eretz Yisroel they have already begun on the 7th of Cheshvan). If one became aware, after he had completed the Bracha Mevaraich Hashanim, that he had omitted Vesain Tal Umatar he should wait to insert it right before Ki Ata Shomeah of Shema Koleinu.
 
If he had already completed the beracha of Shomeah Tfilah, he may insert it before saying "Retzei". If he had already begun "Retzei" he must return to the bracha of "BoraichAleinu", which is the proper place for Vesain Tal Umatar. If he had already completed the Shemonah Esrei and stepped backward, then he must repeat the entire Shemonah Esrei.

(It is advisable to repeat 101 times [at the very least 90 times]: Ve'es Col Minei S'vuasa Le'tova Ve'saen Tal Umatar so as to make the inclusion of Ve'sain Tal Umatar habitual and fluent, thus eliminating any future doubt as to whether one included Ve'sain Tal Umatar in the Shemonah Esrei or not.)

153.  It is a Minhag Yisroel to play draidel (with money) on Chanukah, to commemorate the draidel game played by Jews who, despite the decree of the Greeks were learning Torah, and when caught, made believe that they were simply gathered to play a game.

154. Many gedolim including the Chasam Sofer practiced this minhag. The Klausenberger Rebbe explained that there is no problem of Misachek Bikuvya (gambling) because the draidel is played amongst close family and those playing do not mind losing money to each other.
