AHS Membership Portal

The new AHS Members Only Portal is up and running with new members logging on daily.  Haven't heard about it yet? The Portal is a combined member directory and social networking site, similar to Facebook.  By participating in the Portal, you can share and learn about daylilies while growing in friendship with other AHS members in your own geographic area and around the world.

The site is divided into Group areas (by geographic region) and Community areas. The volunteers listed below manage the Groups - a place for you to get to know members within your own region.   The Group Leaders have spent a great deal of time preparing photo galleries, region pages, forums and blogs for you to participate in.  All AHS Members can view the happenings in each region, but only members of that region may post comments in the Group areas.

The beauty of the forums is that you can participate as little or as much as you want. Short on time? Get an email notification whenever there is a post to the forum of your choice. Have some extra time on a rainy day? Scroll through the forums to see what's going on. You can even search using the Community Search function to find topics that interest you.

Now that you've read all about the site, we're sure you'll want to visit it. You can access the site through the AHS website at
http://www.daylilies.org or directly at http://www.daylilynetwork.org.

Following are some tips for when you first go to the site:

You will need your membership card from the paper cover on The Daylily Journal. Directions to log in are found on the back of the membership card. If you no longer have your membership card, please submit a CONTACT US form from the left column on the Portal main page.

DUAL MEMBERS: If you are a dual member there are special instructions for the username for the second person on the mailing label. The second member has the same username, but with a lower case d added to the end of the username. The passwords are the same for both members.

LAPSED MEMBERSHIP:  For those of you who just haven't gotten around to renewing your membership, you too have a profile on the Portal. You should go to the new Portal and complete the CONTACT US form. Include your name, address and email so we can locate you. You will receive an electronic notification of your username and password. The first time you sign on, you will be asked to pay your dues. As soon as the dues are processed you will have full access to the Portal. Please share this with any of your friends who have let their membership lapse. Anyone who was a member during the past ten years has a profile waiting so please do not sign up as a new member.

CURRENT MEMBERS:  When logging in, remember to use a capital letter for the first character of your password. The username and password that come in your Journal are meant to be temporary. You should change them both the first time you sign on the site. You will find a very short PowerPoint tutorial in the HELP DIRECTORY if you need assistance.  Also, be sure to update your email address on your profile. Your email address is our primary means of contact to answer questions.

If you find any errors on your profile, please go ahead and correct them. While this is your profile, please remember that this is also the AHS record. Your Journal will be sent to the name and address in your profile. You have the ability to control how much information is seen by other members. You can adjust this by going to EDIT PROFILE. A few areas like your region and the year you joined the AHS cannot be changed by you. If you find errors on things you cannot change, please complete the CONTACT US form so that an administrator can fix the data.

IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM SIGNING ON:  Please use the CONTACT US form if you have any trouble signing on the Portal. You do not have to be a member to use CONTACT US.

CLUB MEMBERSHIP:  Clubs will have their own individual profile. The access to manage that space should be assigned to one or possibly two members (secretary and president?) who would be able to post information on the club for the AHS club members to view. It would be like a mini group. Because this is a secure site with lots of personal information we cannot allow clubs to just give the log on information to every club member. The club will need to have an email address associated with the club profile. Unless the club has its own email address, its secretary's or president's email address may need to be used.

YOUTH MEMBERS:  The youth members will have full access to the site, but only other youth members can access the Youth Member profiles and Youth Groups.

SITE HELP:   The volunteer Tech Support Team has put together a very comprehensive HELP DIRECTORY complete with Glossary, Answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), Video Tutorials, and a Help Forum. There is even a Department of Knowledge blog area for more advanced technology topics. If you cannot find your answer in any of these places, please do not hesitate to use the CONTACT US link at any time.  Answers are provided within 48 hours and generally much faster than that.

Wondering who is behind the scenes putting this all together and answering your questions?  Community Manager MaryAnn Pruden is the first in line to receive the CONTACT US forms. If she cannot answer your question, then it is forwarded to one of the team members who can best help you:  Michael Bouman, Karol Emmerich, Tim Fehr, Mike Longo, Mike Holmes or Sandy Holmes.

Please refrain from contacting any of the team members directly. A streamlined procedure is in place and using the HELP DIRECTORY and CONTACT US will result in the fastest possible answers to your questions.

On a final note, the Portal is an all-volunteer site, so please have a little patience during the first few months.  Nearly 700,000 pieces of data for almost 22,000 people have been loaded and checked, and many hours were spent preparing the groups and forums to help make your time on the Portal educational and fun.

Hope to "see" you on the Portal soon!
