Fall News and Class Schedule

Favorite Vendor Is it October already?

Wow!  The Flathead Quilters Guild Show is over for this year.  Thanks to all who voted for us....we are touched by the Favorite Vendor award.  It is you all who keep your local shops going.  We are all aware of the many shopping options you have.  (Is there anything you can't find on the internet?)  So we can't thank you enough for supporting your local shops.

Didn't Becky and Emily do just a wonderful job on the show?  "It takes a village" to put on a show like this, so thank you to Becky, Emily, and all the other hard workers for bringing all of us quilters together for this wonderful weekend!

If you picked up a coupon for our shop at the show, be sure and use it by October 17th!  Don't miss out on your discount.  In addition to the coupon discount, remember that ALL FLANNELS ARE 25% OFF for the month of October!  AND, our SALE WALL SALE continues.  All fabric on our sale wall is 50% off, minimum 1 yard cut!  We have many, many bolts to choose from.  We have been so happy with the results of our sale wall discount that we are going to continue it for the time being.  Our goal is to empty our shed of overstock, and I must say that you all have been very helpful!  We are constantly replacing the emptied bolts, so check back often!  Those of you working hard on your holiday gifts may want to stop in and look for backings!  We will continue the sale until the shed is bare!!  That could be this month, next month, who kinows?

If any of you are lucky enough to be traveling to Houston for Quilt Market or Quilt Festival, please stop by our booth and say hi!  We will be in booth #662 for both shows.  We will be featuring our five new patterns (which some of you saw at the Flathead show), along with some of our past best sellers.

EXPLODING STAR

October 17   10am-3pm              Exploding Star

Instructor:   Clara Clark

Fee:   $30

Welcome to the third in our series of two-color quilts.  The idea for this quilt originated from a book containing over 500 sketches of various quilt blocks.  After much deliberation, Clara chose one entitled "Odd Fellow's Chain".  The compilation author indicated that she had found this block in a publication called "Ladies Art Company, No. 61".  Her sources were from various magazines and publications dating during the 1920's and 1930's.  Clara did some adjusting to fit her needs, and hopefully, yours.

The original block contained 2 inch finished squares.  Clara soon realized that you might not like to make 16 blocks that would average five hours apiece to construct, so with the input of coworkers the blocks were enlarged to 8 inch finished squares.  Now you can have the 64 inch quilt center done in about five or six hours!  Add a border, and a nice, 80 inch quilt is ready for finishing touches.
