EXPLODING STAR
October 17 10am-3pm
Instructor: Clara Clark
Fee: $30
Welcome to the
third in our series of two-color quilts.
The idea for this quilt originated from a book containing over 500
sketches of various quilt blocks. After
much deliberation, Clara chose one entitled "Odd Fellow's Chain". The compilation author indicated that she had
found this block in a publication called "Ladies Art Company, No. 61". Her sources were from various magazines and
publications dating during the 1920's and 1930's. Clara did some adjusting to fit her needs,
and hopefully, yours.
The original block
contained 2 inch finished squares. Clara
soon realized that you might not like to make 16 blocks that would average five
hours apiece to construct, so with the input of coworkers the blocks were
enlarged to 8 inch finished squares. Now
you can have the 64 inch quilt center done in about five or six hours! Add a border, and a nice, 80 inch quilt is
ready for finishing touches.
