Greetings!

As I write this, the temperature outside is about 37 degrees, and it's snowing so hard that I can't see my barn.  It seems that last month I said that I was sure spring had finally sprung....oops!  Is this the end of April or are we stuck in a time warp??!!   I've been binding some market quilts in the evening and it sure is nice to be under those quilts when it's so chilly!

Nevertheless, we all know the beautiful weather is just around the corner and we will be getting busy outside.

There are a couple of things I want to bring to your attention....

Our "Heart at Work" auction will be held on Saturday, June 28th.  It will be held in the Bigfork Bay classroom.  The silent auction begins at 6:30 pm, and the auction itself starts at 7:00 pm.  We are starting to receive some wonderful donations.  We have original paintings, art prints, art quilts, and two vacation packages, and the donations keep rolling in!  Please mark your calendars and join us on this special day.  It's alot of fun, there are wonderful prizes, and, best of all, you will be supporting our Team Baboobala as they prepare for the three day, 60 mile walk to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.  All items have been donated, so every penny spent will go directly to the fund.

In addition, we continue our shop promotion to support the team.  If you donate $5 to the team, you will receive 20% off all regular priced merchandise for one shopping day.  You only have to spend $25 to recapture your $5 donation, but many, many shoppers have saved quite a bit more! And you can do this over and over as long as we run the promotion. We have raised over $500 this way so far, but our goal of $11,000 is still far away.  Please help the team, and yourself by making a $5 donation.

We also have a nice selection of aprons we are selling.  The adult aprons are only $25, and the children's aprons are $15.  This is a fraction of what you'd pay at a kitchen or department store.  The entire cost of the aprons will be donated to the Breast Cancer Fund.  These aprons will make wonderful Mother's Day gifts, and well as special gifts for bridal showers and birthdays.

Thanks for supporting this very worthy cause,

Lynn

APPLIQUE CLASS

Winter Wolf
TONI'S WILDLIFE APPLIQUE
(Advanced Fusible Applique)

Saturday   May 3   10-4  OR
Thursday   May 29   10-4
INSTRUCTOR:   OK CAROL
FEE:  $30

CHOOSE your favorite Toni Whitney design and let OK Carol guide you, step by step, towards creating your own beautiful art quilt.  Come to class with your pattern pieces traced on fusible web, as this is the most time-consuming step. Carol will show you how to use the subtle shadings of the batik fabrics to your best advantage, as well as how to "build" your design section by section.  This is NOT a beginning fusible applique class.  You MUST have experience with this method.

FUN WITH FABRIC INKS

Wed  May 28   10-4

INSTRUCTOR   Josie McCollum
FEE   $30 plus $5 supply fee which can be applied to purchase of your own inks

Have you ever wanted to try out fabric painting?  Josie McCollum has been experimenting with several techniques that she'd love to share with you. Anyone can do this!  She actually uses fabric inks, not paints. These are easy and fun to use.  They can be used to enhance an existing design, or create a comletely new design.  Then they are heat set to become  permanent.  In this class you will choose a simple design to "color". Josie will show you some special effects you can achieve with different tools and applicators.  You will then be able to use your project to make a small pillow or wall hanging.  All your supplies for this class will be provided.  You will be painting, so wear an old shirt or smock!
