Greetings!
We have alot going on this month! We are kicking off our fundraising efforts for Team Baboobala! See how you can help the team in their important endeavor. Mo has some new things going on in the Cotton Theory world. We have a fun Mystery weekend planned at the end of March. Preparations are underway now for Shop Hop. And last, but not least, Toni's Winter Wolf will debut this month!

| WHAT IS BABOOBALA ? |
|
|
To some "baboobala" is a Russian term of endearment. To us it is a team of women who will walk sixty miles in three days to fight breast cancer. Many of you know that last September, Traci and Jane did just that; they participated in the Susan G. Komen 3 day walk in Seattle, walking 20 miles a day for three days. Each person who participates in the walk must raise $2200 in sponsorship money before they can participate. They held the Art at Work Auction at BBCC. OK Carol Rockwell made an amazing raffle quilt. Generous donors helped. They ultimately surpassed their goal and raised over $6000 for the fight against breast cancer.
This year Team Baboobala has five members, Traci Marvel, Jane Anderson, Josie McCollum, Rachel St. Sauver, and Lee Stulz, and is still growing. So the fundraising goal is much higher!
We are now in the planning stages for our second auction...renamed the "Heart at Work" auction. Like last year, the auction will feature original works of art; painting, sculpture, photography, beadwork, textile art, etc. But we also have received generous donations that don't fall into the art category...hence the new name.
Please consider making a donation to our auction; a piece of art, (a quilt??), a gift basket, a service, a gift certificate, etc. Anything that will help the cause. You will receive a receipt from the Susan G. Komen Foundation for your donation. And you will help Team Baboobala as they attempt to raise the necessary funds to participate.
If you would like to learn more about the walk, log on the www.08the3day.org. You can also make a financial donation to the team by following the links of the Seattle walk and then searching by team name "Baboobala".
Thank you for your help!
PS Here are a couple of teasers for this year....OK Carol will be making another raffle quilt, and a vacation at Tamarack Resort in Idaho in a Sawtooth Chalet has been donated for the auction....... |

Two Beauties From Mo!!
Last fall Mo spent another week with Betty Cotton in Osseo, Wisconsin. Betty's new book is due out soon and Mo can't wait to teach some of the new things she learned. One technique involves using blocks you already have and incorporating them into a Cotton Theory quilt. What a great idea!!
Mo has been busy while waiting for the book. She has recreated two of Betty's stand alone patterns.
"Fly Away Home" is in the shop now and it is stunning...Sign up now for the class...space is limited. I know it will fill up quickly.
Mo has also made a beautiful Oriental version of the "Porch Swing Coverup". Unfortunately, this quilt has to travel to Washington for a class and won't be back in the shop until March 12. This three-part class will be on the schedule in April. |
| MONTANA SHOP HOP 2008 |
|
|
April 18th to May 10th
Mark your calendars now for Shop Hop 2008! Last year over 350 people participated in shop hop. Don't miss out on the fun....
Shop Hop newspapers will be in shops soon, so you can plan your routes.
Rather than each shop designing blocks, there is a plan in the works for a mystery quilt, and each shop will provide a step. We haven't received the details on this yet, but we'll keep you posted......
We will have extended hours during the middle weekend; Friday, April 25 9am to 7pm, Saturday April 26 9am to 7pm, and Sunday 10am to 5pm. We will have ongoing demos in the shop throughout the weekend. |
| WINTER WOLF by Toni Whitney |
|
Winter Wolf is the newest design from Toni Whitney. We will be showing it for the first time at Spring Market in May. You are the first to see it! The pattern should be done by the end of March. We have ordered fabric for kits. We are taking preorders now....Call today! |

Saturday March 29th 10am to 9pm
Sunday March 30th (optional)
Join us for a day of FUN. We have designed a wonderful mystery quilt to build, hour by hour, clue by clue.
When you sign up for the class, you will receive your fabric requirements. That's it. No hints or clues ahead of time. Each hour you will receive a new clue. You will receive the last clue at 8pm, at which time you will have all the information you need to finish your quilt. The class will "officially" end there. However, you may stay late and sew. Or you can leave your things in place and return on Sunday to sew. You should be able to finish this queen-sized top by the end of Sunday.
We will provide a light lunch and dinner. Bring whatever you like to drink, and SNACKS. We will take a vote and whoever brings the best snack will win a prize.
Remember, you will receive a 10% discount on all fabric and supplies you purchase for this class, PLUS if you purchase all the fabric required for this class from us you will receive 25% off your backing fabric.

| DROP IN SEWING |

| Become a member of LMNOPQ West!
When I was in Illinois I was part of a wonderful bee group, LMNOPQ (Ladies Monday Night Out Piecing and Quilting). I miss those friends dearly!
We are inviting anyone and everyone to join us on Mondays to sew, knit, visit, or whatever! Some of us will start late afternoon, 4 or 5, and go as long as we want, perhaps 8 or 9pm. But for those who would like to start early, the classroom is open all day, so come and set up anytime after 10am to sew, and go as long as you'd like. This will be an informal gathering; we'll make it up as we go..... |
