Prayer Shield Ministry
Though one be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Ecc 4:12

Recently, I attended a leadership conference and learned about a prayer shield ministry. As a speaker and writer, I was convicted about the need to establish a prayer shield.

According to Sharon Hill, Author & Founder of OnCall Prayer, "A prayer shield member is more than a prayer partner. This commitment is an assignment from God to pray for you and your ministry. This is taking prayer to a much higher level."

She also encourages ministry leaders that although they may be hesitant, leaders must take the first step and ASK! She emphasizes that the 'three' who accept the assignment will be chosen of God and honored to be asked.

So here goes...I'm asking!

Woman PrayingI'm looking for three women who believe God may be calling them to intercede for me as a prayer shield. If you believe God may be calling you, please contact me and we can talk more about what this means.

Jesus had a prayer shield.
"He took with him Peter and John and James, and went up to the mountain to pray. And as he was praying, the fashion of his countenance was altered. Luke 9:28-29

My greatest desire is to have the Lord's covering in everything I do.

Prayer is the most vital part of ministry. As the body of Christ, we all fit together. When each of us use our unique talents and gifts for the Lord, the kingdom of God moves in power.

Hey Friend,
Christy Johnson
Love is blind....Opposites attract...The silent treatment is an effective conflict resolution tool...

How often do we embrace familiar theories as fact? Often when we've heard common expressions over and over, their proverbial nature prevents us from considering their legitimacy.

If you've ever heard a girlfriend complain that men are from Mars then you know what I'm talking about.

This month we'll take a closer look at some of these common theories to see what truth they bear. Let's get rid of the deception so we can have Christ-centered healthy relationships.

It's all for Him!

Is It Really True?

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2).

Common expressions can hinder healthy relationships because they compete with our ability to see the truth in scripture. When we accept cultural theories without comparing them to scripture, we can get tangled with the standards of the world.

So let's evaluate some common expressions. What do you think?  Is love really blind? Where did this saying come from anyway? Is it true? What does scripture say about our ability to accurately discern the affairs of the heart?

Is Love Really Blind?

Blinded by LoveYears ago, marriage arrangements were supervised, but in our culture it's common for men and women to jump into relationships and make their own decisions regarding marriage without considering advice from friends and family. As a result, I often receive prayer requests for troubled marriages.

Marriage is the single most important contract and commitment we will ever make in life. Why enter without the consent and approval of those who know us best? Why risk the most important decision we will ever make to our own intellect?

Because love is blind. At least according to....read the rest

Mount St. Christy
The other day I wrote about how God knit my heart together with John on January 28, 1998. This single revelation is what has kept us together when times got tough. Before we got married I thought John was perfect. We'll never argue, I thought. The bliss of love kept me smothered in romantic ignorance...
