Greetings!

Here we are in the last month of what has been a spectacular year! Despite a less-than-stellar economy, we at Shelby Murphy Training & Fitness continue to grow. As other area businesses shut down, I've asked myself why we continue to get stronger. This is what I've come up with:

  • We always put our clients first. We have had a policy since we opened our doors that your training time is your time and we try our best to leave our personal dramas at the door so we can focus 100% on delivering the best fitness experience for you.
  • We focus on the details, which is sadly uncommon in the fitness industry. We keep records of every client workout, we contact your physician, we bring in new equipment regularly, we consistently offer new pacakges and programs, we follow up with our clients, we hold them accountable to their goals and don't let them get away with missing workouts, we try to greet everyone by name who walks through our doors, and we listen... really listen.
  •  We try to be fair and even-handed in all of our policies with the intention that keeping you accountable is what we are here for.
  • We care immensely about our clients and work hard to educate them, support them, and lead them to results.
  • We are always striving to be better. We are not perfect, but the team of trainers at Shelby Murphy Training & Fitness consistently grow themselves as professionals and as human beings. Leading you toward a healthier, higher quality of life is no short order, and we work hard to live up to that task.
We appreciate your loyalty to our studio immensely. Please know that if we ever fail to live up to your expectations, my door -- and ears -- are always open. I take to heart your comments and critiques and use them as fuel to raise us to a higher level. Because when we're better, so are you!

Bring on 09!

SPOTLIGHTING AN
AMAZING CLIENT...
Betsy Pokluda
 Betsy

Original home town:  Zavalla, Texas

Years in Granbury area: 3 years

How long have you been training with Shelby Murphy Training & Fitness?  3 months

Who is your primary trainer?  Shelby

Why did you decide to begin training?   What are your goals? I recently had a baby and I needed motivation.  My goals were to: increase my energy, be a role model for my family, lose inches, and lose baby weight and 20 extra lbs.

What physical differences have you noticed since exercise became a regular part of your life?
I've gained substantial amount of energy, my pre-baby jeans fit, and I am so much stronger!

What emotional differences have you noticed since you began putting your health as a priority?
I am so much happier and this helps me enjoy my family so much more!

How are you living your life differently now that you are in better shape?  I go out of the house more with my children because I have the energy to!

What do you have the confidence to do now, that you never would have done before?  Wear form fitting clothes and not baggy pants and shirts.

Who have you inspired to make a positive change in their life since you've made a positive change in  yours?  My husband.

What are you the most proud of?  I am sticking to my goals.

Shelby's comments: Betsy's responses are very understated considering the achievements she's made. Every time we measure, she has consistently dropped body fat, inches, and pounds. Her confidence is growing with each new exercise she masters and her eating is spot on. She is a joy to work with because she is committed -- she doesn't miss training sessions, she pushes herself even when an exercise is difficult, her meals consist of lean proteins, veggies/fruits, whole grains, good fats (and most meals are made at home), and she is consistent in doing her cardio. Betsy has recreated herself as a fit and powerful mom. Her newfound radiance is simply breathtaking! I'm so proud of her!
