D'Vine Wine
 sponsors our
"Whiner of the Month"
If you hadn't heard, our Oct. Whiner/Winner was Burt Preissinger. He received a bottle of wine from D'Vine Wine in Granbury.

Come by the studio to see who our November Whiner/Winner is!

Greetings!

About 10 years ago, when I was living in a funky little cottage in central Austin, I did a "vision map" of what I wanted in my life. I cut out pictures and words from magazines and glued them onto a poster board, which has hung in my closet for years.

Many of the photos on that board have since manifested in my life. And this week, another one will come true. It has long since been my goal to create the perfect team within my family -- one that works for a common goal, in our home and in our professional lives. I had envisioned owning a business with my husband where we share the benefits and hard work of entrepreneurship along with sharing the benefits and hard work of raising a family. With the control of our own destiny, and the cooperative focus of more than one working toward the same result, I figured that both my husband and I could enjoy working with passion, serving the larger public, and raising a family -- together.

This week, after providing years of steady income that made it possible for me to start this business that I love, my husband, Louis, will join me in running it. He will serve as the business manager, for the studio, the boot camp, and fitness projects we are initiating nationally, due to my reach as editor of PFP magazine and multimedia. With his help, we can increase our fitness offerings within Granbury and further elevate our high-touch level of client service. I'm also excited about the team building he'll bring to our amazing studio team -- Scott, Gina, and Mark.

But on a personal note, it's another dream come true for me. A person I love dearly, working with me in a job I love dearly, building a better future for our family, for our business, and for Granbury. I'm not sure it's gets much better than that!

So stop by the back office at the studio and introduce yourself to Louis. I think you'll like his easy-going charm as much as I do.

Here's to checking another dream off the Life's To Do list (and to helping you do the same!)...

 Denise
Name: DENISE HATTOX

Original home town:  Snyder, Texas

Years in Granbury area:  18 years

How long have you been training with Shelby Murphy Training & Fitness?
About 2 years...some days it feels like 10!

Who is your primary trainer?
The awe-inspiring Shelby Murphy !!!

Why did you decide to begin training?   What are your goals?
I decided to begin training so I could be healthier and get physically stronger.
My goal is to out run my husband and teenage son in a 5K race!

What physical differences have you noticed since exercise became a regular part of your life?
I feel great, my energy level is up and my cholesterol is down!!!   I am as strong and flexible as I was as a teenager!
Also, I had to turn down several phone calls from the McCain campaign asking me to give some fitness tips to Sarah Palin!

What emotional differences have you noticed since you began putting your health as a priority?
I am emotionally HAPPY to be in the "spotlight" instead of receiving the "Winer/Whiner" award - I think it could have gone either way!
I feel closer to my family and have gained confidence and empowerment knowing that I have a say over my health and fitness.

How are you living your life differently now that you are in better shape?
I am living my life in a smaller jean size!!!  I usually have a bounce in my step and a smile on my face.

What do you have the confidence to do now, that you never would have done before?
I have the confidence to leave the lights ON!

Who have you inspired to make a positive change in their life since you've made a positive change in yours?
My son and husband have both began running 5K races with me and I can ALMOST keep up with them!  My mom, Mary Hood, has also been training at Shelby Murphy Fitness - training gift certificates make excellent presents for Christmas, birthday, etc. - way better than a fruit cake or membership to the Jelly-of-the-month club!

What are you the most proud of?
I am most proud of the example that I am setting for my children (Marissa, age 16 months & Riley, age 13 years).
Oh yeah, and I can still do the splits!
PROTEIN PANCAKES               by Gina Crist
Quick and easy pancakes that are packed with the right amount of protein, carbohydrates and natural fat to get your mornings or day going strong!

2 eggs whites
1 medium very ripe banana
1 tablespoon flour
1 tablespoon cinnamon
Cayenne pepper (optional)
Drizzle of black-strap molasses (optional)
1 tablespoon ground flaxseed (optional)

Mix together in bowl. If too thick, add extra egg white or water. If too runny, add extra oats or flour.
