June 2011

Dear American Clay Community,

This month we share a touching story about what American Clay plaster, a natural wall covering, has provided to support the well-being of a great little girl.  This kind of testimonial always makes the day a little brighter-- knowing that people are able to "feel" the difference a natural covering can provide--and specifically American Clay plaster.  It reaffirms the direction and the mission we hold at American Clay:

Provide healthy solutions for building owners that create a profitable, sustainable future for American Clay and the Planet.  The quality of our materials and our customer's applications motivate people to utilize clay instead of paint to create walls of comfort.

After Using American Clay

A 3 year old girl who is allergic to many things has found some relief with the use of American Clay earth plaster.  After her mom came across American Clay, she saw the benefits and knew she found the right wall covering for her daughter's room.

Wall Preparation

Summer is here!!  It is going to be in the mid nineties today.  We wanted it to warm up, and now we'll be complaining that it is too hot!!

The hot topic this month seems to be about wall prep.  At the risk of repeating myself, I would like to go over preparing new drywall.  At the bottom of my page, are two links that will further explain what I am saying.  Because of possible changes to some drywall papers and adhesives, we now recommend you coat your ENTIRE wall with a multipurpose transitional or stain-blocking paint primer.  We used to recommend priming only the mudded areas.  The first document titled Primer Sand letter, also has 2 pages of substrate preparations that supersedes anything you have read in the past.  I also put a link to Product Application on our web site.  This will get you a LOT of information for all the different types of application.
