IHELP Event Planning Meeting

Please join us on February 2, 2012 at 5PM for our IHELP Event Planning Meeting at the Escalante Community Center.  The address is 2150 East Orange Street, Tempe, AZ  85281.  We will be meeting in the Brio room.  We are looking forward to working with you to make this event spectacular!  Your help is most appreciated.  Please note:  This is an event planning meeting, all are welcome to help plan our April 19th Dinner Event.

Two Great IHELP Success Stories

Chris came to the IHELP shelter after a referral from Salvation Army. He was a very determined individual and just wanted to get back on his feet. He was provided a resume, job leads, daily bus passes through TCAA and shelter with IHELP. Chris was so determined to find a job that he landed two different jobs on his first day of job hunting.  IHELP assisted him with his uniform and provided  bus passes until he could afford his own.  He was able to get into a rent-to-own trailer here in Tempe. Furnishing Hope was able to provide him with basic furniture needs. He is now on his way to owning his own home. Way to go Chris! We admire your determination;  keep up the good work!

Brion became homeless after losing his wife of many years.   Brion's only family member is his sister who lives in another state.  She coordinated with  IHELP Case Manager, Patrick Winters, to establish a new residence for Brion in order to get him off the streets. Brion was staying in hotel rooms and was running out of money by the end of the month.  This continually lead him back on the streets. Brion stayed in the IHELP shelter until Patrick could get him back on his feet. Patrick and Brion's sister worked together to help Brion with his existing medical condition, helping him obtain his prescription medications, a prescription discount card, food assistance and services at the Escalante Community Center.  Brion found a new apartment in Tempe, and Furnishing Hope was able to provide furniture for him and TCAA's Food Pantry provided food for him in his new apartment.  Brion is now near the free bus line and is able to use the Senior Center on a daily basis so that he is not alone anymore.  He continues with case management services for needed items, but is no longer on the streets.  Congratulations Brion we are proud of you for getting off the street and into your own place!
