EXERCISE AND FUND RAISE FOR IHELP
Join in the fun and run/walk with "TEAM TCAA" in the "Mayor's Run"/PF Chang's Rock 'N' Roll Arizona Marathon and Half Marathon. Many on "TEAM TCAA" walked the half marathon together last year. This is a great opportunity to raise money to support IHELP. Early Registration starts now. Sign up by June 15th to raise even more money for IHELP. Official training starts in September. The Mayor has selected Team TCAA as one of many non-profit charities to join in his quest to help people get in shape while raising money for local non-profit organizations. For more information contact Kathy Estrada. |

HEAT RELIEF NETWORKS
TCAA is one of many water hydration stations, which is part of the Maricopa Association of Government (MAG) network. Heat Relief frequently asked questions are available by clicking the questions link here and on the MAG website at www.azmag.gov. TCAA is also one of many collection sites as well. If you would like to donate water, or know anyone who is in need of Heat Relief Assistance, please refer them to TCAA or one of the many other organizations listed in the MAG network. TCAA is excited to be a part of this partnership and encourages others to help provide relief to those who are on the streets in the hot summer months. |

CASE MANAGEMENT CORNER ~ SUCCESS STORIES
Vanessa sent the following note in about her experience with IHELP. "I came to Tempe with baggage in my hands and in my heart. I came with the wild hope of a different life. I was selfish, angry and hurting. In return for the help Sue gave me, I became an IHELP volunteer and my life has never been the same. I learned that the world did not revolve around me, that there are many reasons that people end up homeless, that the circumstances in life and the things and people we have are temporary. I have learned to embrace each day and be grateful for all that I have. I have learned that God loves all of us, no matter how we look, speak, or how many mistakes we make."
Jonathan wrote Sam awhile back sharing some of his experiencing in the Army. He said he was doing a lot better and really enjoying his life. Here are a few things he wanted to tell Sam, "I just wanted to say thanks for all you did for me, Sir. I truly appreciated the program and all of your wisdom and advice. I'm a better person for it, and I'll never forget....keep up all the good work, and may God Bless."

IHELP MINUTES
Thank you to those who attended our meeting Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Grace Community Church. We had a very good discussion and made some great decisions regarding the next IHELP event. Representatives from all the IHELP partners are welcome to attend these planning meetings. We will let you know when the next meeting is set! |

IHELP RECIPIENT FOR BUFFALO EXCHANGE
IHELP has been chosen by Buffalo Exchange as a recipient in their Token's for Bags Program. This program has generated nearly $399,000 for hundreds of nonprofits since 1994, saving 8 million bags. Shoppers are encouraged to accept a token instead of a bag for purchases. For every token substituted for a bag Buffalo Exchange donates five cents to one of the three featured charities the customer chooses. Please remember the environment and IHELP when you shop at Buffalo Exchange. Thank you for your supporting an environmentally friendly and community minded store. Your support is appreciated!

IHELP VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCES
Do you have an experience that has impacted your life from working with IHELP? If so, we'd like to hear about it. TCAA/IHELP is in the process of compiling these stories. If you have something you would like to share, please email Kathy Estrada so she can write an article for the newsletter. Please note: Our policy is to use a pseudonym names as we would never want to jeopardize our clients success. We are committed to their continued success even after they leave the IHELP program. Thank you for sharing!

IHELP OPPORTUNITIES
There are many opportunities available to serve IHELP. We are still in need of the following help:
*Coordinate a Water Drive (with the weather heating up IHELP guests are in need of water to keep hydrated).
*Wash sheets for IHELP Clients
*Coordinate a Towel or Sheet Drive, so our clients can keep up their hygiene and keep their employment.
For more information, please contact Sam Sumner. |
