SMASHBURGER A BIG HIT FOR IHELP CLIENTS

Smashburger

Smashburger is opening it's new store at Tempe Marketplace and needed to have a few test runs.  Last Thursday, May 26th a group of approximately 35 IHELP clients were invited to thoroughly enjoy themselves at Smashburger.   The clients could not stop talking about how awesome it was to go to a restaurant and order anything they wanted.  Thanks to Ransley, Kurt, and Christina for making this all happen.  Smashburger employees seemed to really enjoy having the IHELP clients there as well.  Thanks Smashburger we really appreciate your generosity and service to IHELP clients.  If you're looking to enjoy a great burger, visit Smashburger at Tempe Marketplace soon!

IHELP MEETING

The next IHELP meeting will be on June 7 at 6:30PM at Grace Community Church in the Dorsey Center.  Please plan on attending, this is an Event Planning Meeting We need your input on how to move forward for the next IHELP Event.  We would like one representative from each congregation!  Thanks for your participation!!

HAIRCUTS FOR IHELP CLIENTS

Hair Cut Clip ArtA group of caring hair stylists donated over two hours of their time to cut hair for at least 15 IHELP clients last Monday, May 16th at Bethany Community Church.  Many thanks to Yvonne Perez, Judith Williams, Alyssa Hernandez, Maricela Reyes, and Gabriel Reyes.  Thanks also go to Denise Russian (a Bethany member very dedicated to IHELP), who managed to set up this Hair Cutting Event!  The clients appreciated the haircuts, and the stylist really enjoyed themselves, and found this very rewarding.  Plans are in the works to do another Hair Cutting Event in the near future.

EXERCISE AND FUND RAISE FOR IHELP

Join in the fun and run/walk with "TEAM TCAA" in the "Mayor's Run"/PF Chang's Rock 'N' Roll Arizona Marathon and Half Marathon. Many on "TEAM TCAA" walked the half marathon.  Early Registration starts now.  If you sign up by June 15th, you can raise additional money for the Interfaith Homeless Emergency Lodging Program (IHELP).  Official training starts in September.  The Mayor has selected Team TCAA as one of many non-profit charities to join in his quest to help people get in shape while raising money for local non-profit organizations.  For more information contact Kathy Estrada

IHELP VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCES

Do you have an experience that has impacted your life from working with IHELP?  If so, we'd like to hear about it.  TCAA/IHELP is in the process of compiling these stories.  If you have something you would like to share, please email Kathy Estrada so she can write an article for the newsletter.   Please note:  Our policy is to use a pseudonym names as we would never want to jeopardize our clients success.  We are committed to their continued success even after they leave the IHELP program.  Thank you for sharing!

IHELP OPPORTUNITIES

There are many opportunities available to serve IHELP.  We are still in need of the following help:

*Coordinate a Water Drive (with the weather heating up IHELP guests are in need of water to keep hydrated).

*Wash sheets for IHELP Clients

*Coordinate a Towel or Sheet Drive, so our clients can keep up their hygiene and keep their employment.
