ESCALANTE COMMUNITY GARDEN RIBBON
CUTTING CEREMONY

The Escalante Community Garden Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 14th from 8AM-10AM.  Breakfast will be provided, tours and a volunteer opportunity after the program at 8:30 AM. Youth activities include rock painting, ladybug release and a seed piņata. Come out and enjoy the days festivities and see how our garden is growing! Thank you to the Escalante Garden Committee, Tempe Leadership Class XXVI and the City of Tempe for making the garden possible! Follow the garden on Facebook by clicking the logo above!  The food grown from the garden will go to TCAA's Food Pantry, garden volunteers, and to farmer's markets to purchase our water & seeds.  Anyone can volunteer - contact Alyssa below or call 480-350-5830.

IHELP VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCES

Do you have an experience that has impacted your life from working with IHELP?  If so, we'd like to hear about it.  TCAA/IHELP is in the process of compiling these stories.  If you have something you would like to share, please email Kathy Estrada so she can write an article for the newsletter.   Please note:  Our policy is to use a pseudonym names as we would never want to jeopardize our clients success.  We are committed to their continued success even after they leave the IHELP program.  Thank you for sharing!

REGISTER NOW FOR "THE MAYOR'S RUN"

Tempe Mayor Hugh Hallman is pictured here with his 2011 Mayor's Run Team.  Join in the fun and raise money for the Interfaith Homeless Emergency Lodging Program (IHELP).  Join

"TEAM TCAA" and run in the "Mayor's Run"/PF Chang's Rock 'N' Roll Arizona Marathon and Half Marathon.  This would be the perfect activity for Youth Groups.  However, you don't need to be young or to run.  Many on "TEAM TCAA" walked the half marathon.  Early Registration starts now.  If you sign up by June 15th, you can raise additional money for the Interfaith Homeless Emergency Lodging Program (IHELP).  Join in the fun ~ official training starts in August.  The Mayor has selected Team TCAA as one of many non-profit charities to join in his quest to help people get in shape while raising money for local non-profit organizations.  The Mayor & Couch Brian are a lot of fun!  For more information contact Kathy Estrada.

IHELP OPPORTUNITIES

There are many opportunities available to serve IHELP.  We are still in need of the following help:

*Coordinate a Water Drive (with the weather heating up IHELP guests are in need of water to keep hydrated).

*Wash sheets for IHELP Clients

*Coordinate a Towel or Sheet Drive, so our clients can keep up their hygiene and keep their employment.

For more information, please contact Sam Sumner.
