| Due December 31, the Charitable Tax Credit is a win-win for all! Also called the Working Poor Tax Credit, the tax credit will come off your State bill, lowering the amount of tax you will pay or increasing your refund amount. Married couples filing jointly can donate $400 to TCAA and single filers can donate up to $200. You can participate in this tax credit and the school tax credit in the same year! By writing a tax-credit check to TCAA, you are helping the agency fulfill our wish to help those who need it the most throughout the year.
I personally delivered meals last week with the East Valley Women's League, who delivered Christmas baskets full of sweet smelling soap, lotion and fragrance to women in our Home-Delivered Meals Program. I was truly moved by some of the women and their stories. One participant, who I will call Jane, has cancer and cannot move from her bed. The meal that Jane receives is her only meal of the day and without it she would not survive. While talking to another participant who has Alzheimers and cannot drive, she told us that she was worried about her cat getting lost because she could not get to PetsMart to make her cat, Sushi, a pet tag. As easy as it seems to most of us, imagine not being able to run a simple errand. We had a pet tag made to be delivered with her meal this week so she doesn't have to worry.
The "working poor" tax credit is the easiest way to give back and it makes a tremendous difference to TCAA and the people that we serve each day!
