Many Thanks to The Ford's & Temple Emanuel

Many thanks go to Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Ford for allowing the use of their space to Temple Emanuel.  Temple Emanuel organized a VERY successful food drive bringing in almost 4,000 lbs of food into our  food pantry.  We appreciate our community partners like you who do so much! 

Community Garden 
   
Join Tempe Community Action Agency as we plan for a Community Garden in the Escalante neighborhood.  The meetings are held on the 2nd & 4th Thursday evenings in the Escalante Center at 6:30PM. The next meeting will be on October 7, 2010.  To view garden notes click on garden.
H.U.RT. Community Preparedness Exercise & Fair

City In The Desert Metro-Church is hosting an emergency preparedness exercise & fair on Saturday, October 9, 2010.  The purpose is to prepare the community for quick response in the event of an emergency.  The American Red Cross will be at the event doing a blood drive.  There will be many exhibitors and organizations represented.  For more information contact:

The Mayor's Run
Join this exciting and growing Team.  "Team TCAA"  is looking for runners to join us in  "The Mayor's Run"/PF Chang's Rock 'N' Roll Arizona Marathon & Half Marathon on January 16, 2011.  Training is going on now.  Your participation will raise funds for Tempe Community Action Agency, and help those needing assistance in our community.

TCAA ELIGIBLE FOR CHARITABLE TAX CREDIT 
 The Charitable Tax Credit is a win-win for all!  Also called the Working Poor Tax Credit, the tax credit will come off your State bill, lowering the amount of tax you will pay or increasing your refund amount.  Married couples filing jointly can donate $400 to TCAA and single filers can donate up to $200.  You can participate in this tax credit and the school tax credit in the same year!  For questions contact Beth at 480-350-5883 or click on the attached flyer.

Four Peaks 6th Annual Charity Golf Classic Tournament 

Four Peaks 6th Annual Charity Golf Tournament, sponsored by Shamrock Foods will be held at ASU Karsten Golf Course.  Entries are due by November 5th, registration is on November 10, 2010 at 10AM.   The tournament will benefit Tempe Community Action Agency and The ARC of Tempe.  For more information see Four Peaks Brochure.  Newly added - Helicopter Ball Drop to win $500 cash!!! TCAA'S  6th Annual Holiday Toy Shoppe

 

 Holiday Toy ShoppeTCAA, IKEA-Tempe and our community 

friends are gearing up for the Holiday Toy Shoppe.  

TCAA is confident

with our caring community we will be able to exceed last year's giving.  Last year over 4,000 toys and gift cards were distributed, benefiting 216 families, 612 children (between the ages of 0-16), as well as 180 seniors / disabled individuals.  2nd Annual Terror Nights
Halloween Event
October 29-31

  

Terror nights is an extreme haunted yard and Halloween event for everyone from the makers of "THE HAUNT."  Open October 29-31, 2010 from 6:15PM-10:00PM, located at 511 East LaDonna Drive in Tempe.  Admission is free, donations appreciated.  Part of the proceeds will go to TCAA.  There will be a food drive, so bring your non-perishable foods.  There will be also be live performers.  For more information click here.


TCAA's "Cooking on a Budget" Nutritious Cooking Series
 
This bilingual class enables participants to walk away with the necessary skills to make healthy and economical food choices.  Meetings are held on Tuesdays at the Escalante Center from 6-8PM. Due to the success of this program the following classes have been added:

Nutritious Cooking Class I:  
 October 11th, 18th, 25th
  Nutritious Cooking Class II: 
November 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 &   December 6
