Four Peaks 6th Annual Charity Golf Tournament, sponsored by Shamrock Foods will be held at ASU Karsten Golf Course. Entries are due by November 5th, registration is on November 10, 2010 at 10AM. Community Garden
Join Tempe Community Action Agency as we plan for a Community Garden in the Escalante neighborhood. The meetings are held on the 2nd & 4th Thursday evenings in the Escalante Center at 6:30PM. The next meeting is September 23. For more information click on garden. |

TCAA's "Cooking on a Budget" Nutritious Cooking Series
Cooking on a budget was a 3 week nutritious cooking pilot program that started in May, 2010. The purpose of the class was to teach local community members to use their resources more effectively by providing cooking, nutrition, and food budgeting skills for those struggling to feed their families. This bi-lingual class enable students to walk away with the necessary skills to make healthy and economical food choices. Meetings are held on Tuesdays at the Escalante Center from 6-8PM. Due to the success of this program the following classes have been added:
Nutritious Cooking Class I:
September 20th & 27th,
October 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th
Nutritious Cooking Class II: November 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 & December.6 |
"Team TCAA" is looking for runners to join us in
"The Mayor's Run." PF Chang's
Rock 'N' Roll Arizona Marathon & Half Marathon on January 16, 2011. Training is going on now. Your participation will raise funds for Tempe Community Action Agency, and help those needing assistance in our community. For more information please see our website or email Kathy Estrada for a packet.

TCAA'S 6th Annual Holiday Toy Shoppe

 TCAA, IKEA-Tempe and our community friends are gearing up for the Holiday Toy Shoppe. TCAA is confident with our caring community we will be able to exceed last year's giving. Last year over 4,000 toys and gift cards were distributed benefiting 216 families, 612 children (between the ages of 0-16), as well as 180 seniors / disabled individuals. VolunTEAMism teamed up with the Tempe Convention & Visitors Bureau to do a canned food sculpture team building exercise in support of TCAA. TCAA received $100 per team.
