Community Service Leads to a New Life
Eddie G. was released from prison and did his court ordered community service through TCAA's Food Pantry. Eddie was a hard worker and expressed an interest in getting back into the work force.
Last March, Eddie met with Lindsay, TCAA's Life Skills Coordinator, and she referred him to TEaMS (Transitional Employment and Mentoring Services) Program for ex-offenders. This program offers job search and preparation assistance. The cost is $40. Eddie provided $20 and TCAA provided $20.
Eddie was named Employee of the Month at Marketfare Foods because he hasn't missed a day since he started 10 months ago. Eddie works 6 days a week. He has worked his way up from maintenance to the production line, and will soon be training as a machine operator. He is also getting his driver's license, which he has not had in 10 years.
On April 1, Eddie returned to thank TCAA and to repay the $20. Best of all Eddie is reunited with his family and his children. For more information on TCAA and our many helpful programs please visit our website! |
