Helping Our Community Everyday

The TCAA Board will soon be in contacting the community for gifts towards our programs, many operate with funds from donors just like you!  Thank you for your support as we assist our neighbors.  Here's just an example of how you are helping us make a difference...

"Catherine is a 78 year old Scottsdale resident who lives a lone and has been receiving home delivered meals for the past 9 months.  She has heart problems, a seizure disorder, and arthritis.  Needless to say, she goes to her doctor often.  About 3 months ago her doctor reported how pleased he was with Catherine for gaining 3 lbs since her last visit.  Up from 92lbs to 95lbs!  Catherine reported she had started receiving five meals delivered to her home each week from TCAA.  Her doctor then asked her for the contact information for her home delivered meal program, so he could refer other patients who are seniors in need of hot nutritious meals.  Catherine was so happy with her weight gain that she called the staff at TCAA that day to get the contact information her doctor had requested."

TCAA delivers over 58,000 meals annually to homebound frail seniors and disabled residents in Tempe and Scottsdale.

Escalante Senior Center Celebrates Lunar New Year
Year of the Tiger
Lunar New Year is a time for people to connect with family and honor their ancestors. On New Year's Day, people visit family and friends to wish them luck in the New Year. They say "Gung hay fat choy," which means, "May you prosper." Children receive red envelopes called lai see with gifts of money inside.  On Feb. 16, Escalante celebrated with a traditional menu and dragon dance.  Thank you to Tai Thai, Tina Martinez from Mekong Plaza, Albert Lin, Rev. Peter Liu, Crane Kung-Fu School and UnPhogettable Restaurant for organizing the festivities.
