Charitable Tax Credit
Mother and ChildThis year is coming to a close, December 31 is your last day to get credited on your taxes by donating to the CHARITABLE TAX CREDIT. This program is a great way to help out the working poor in your community while receiving a dollar for dollar return on your 2009 state tax return. The baseline year stipulation has been removed and you can donate to both the school and charitable tax credit.

A Story of Sharing
In the spirit of the holidays, we wanted to share this with you to warm your heart.  Thank you to all who donate to TCAA and make a difference in our community.

Submitted by Monica Tegg, Food Pantry Coordinator

On the day before Thanksgiving, the Tempe Fire Department dropped off a turkey dinner with all the fixins' for a family.   We went through it in amazement of all the details of the donation. In looking at it, we noticed that the only thing that could possibly be added to it was cream of mushroom soup and fried onions so the green beans could be made into a casserole. We had the soup but no fried onions so one of the volunteers, Dave, ran to the store and purchased them.  As we served the last few food box clients of the day, Melissa came in for a food box. As she was given her food, she gratefully thanked the volunteers saying she had nothing in the house. We inquired if she had plans for Thanksgiving, which she replied she didn't know and didn't have a turkey yet. Dave was standing behind me, knowing why I was asking her, and retrieved the Thanksgiving dinner. Melissa was holding back the tears, thanking everyone as Dave helped her to her car.

Happy Holidays!
