IKEA's Continued Support Helps Everyone "Go Green"

TCAA would like to thank IKEA for their recent donation of 440 packages of the SPARSAM low-energy light bulbs. The bulbs were distributed among seniors to reduce their energy costs and increase environmental awareness.

We value our community partnership with IKEA and appreciate their ongoing support of TCAA programming.

More Than a Meal

Boris and Dora sit on their new couchThis story starts with a donated TV to TCAA from Joan Johnson.  Program managers were asked to identify a family that could use the TV - one immediately came to mind from our Home Delivered Meal program.  Boris and Dora, immigrants from Russia, moved to Arizona from Boston for health reasons. One afternoon, TCAA delivered the TV to Boris and Dora (pictured to the left).  At that time, the staff realized that they had very little furniture - only one very ripped couch in the living room with little lighting.  The next day, we contacted our partner, Bridging Arizona Furniture Bank, to make an appointment for them.  On June 27, Boris and Dora went "shopping" at the furniture bank and received a love seat, coffee table, lamp, kitchen chairs, curio cabinet and a mattress.  Thanks to Joan, the Furniture Bank, and the volunteers (including some from our homeless program) that helped make life more comfortable for Boris and Dora.

Correction: Last month's newsletter stated TCAA had acquired a F. Scott Fitzgerald jersey for our First Crush Silent Auction.  The jersey is actually signed by Larry Fitzgerald!  We apologize for the error and will also include a copy of The Great Gatsby with the jersey :)
