Home Delivered Meal Drivers Needed -
Tempe Community Action Agency's Senior Action Program provides an excellent opportunity for families and friends who are seeking a service activity together, to deliver pre-packaged hot meals to seniors and disabled individuals who can not prepare their own meals or get out for grocery shopping.

A commitment is needed of one day a week, Monday through Friday (9:30AM-12:00PM) June through August.  You do need your own car but TCAA will reimburse for miles driven while delivering meals on a designated route in Tempe or south Scottsdale.

The program is a lifeline for the people we serve, for most it's the only contact they have with another person during the day.

For information on how you can make a difference, please read our volunteer opportunities bulletin....
senior prom2'Senior Prom' at the North Tempe Senior Center

It was a rainy morning, the Saturday of April 11, 2009, but that could not put a damper on the enthusiasm of nineteen students from the ASU Leadership Scholarship Program.  These students were a swirl of activity as they completed putting up their decorations, directed the caterer and made sure all electronic equipment was ready for the big Monte Carlo theme dance they were putting on for the seniors at the North Tempe Senior Center.

Twenty seniors from different TCAA sites attended this free event and basked in the attention from these wonderful young people. First, our seniors were presented with a fine buffet of assorted breads, cold cuts, cheeses and delicious dessert cookies. Next, the students started the senior activities that included a cake walk, a photo session (as a keepsake of the event) and finally, dancing, dancing, dancing.

The seniors were led by the students in dances like the Electric Slide and Macarena to the more traditional partners dancing. It was a fantastic event that made lasting memories for both students and seniors alike!

*This special activity was sponsored wholly by the ASU Leadership Scholarship student members.
