PRENATAL PARTNER WEEK: May 11-15
Show 'em how ya do it now!
You've been bringing that beautiful belly to Blooma for awhile now, preparing for baby's arrival with prenatal yoga classes. You sweat, you breathe, you move, you groove. You're working HARD for this kid. Om shanti, sister!

0805_TreeCoupleSo for that loving person in your life who thinks you're just here for a little pregnancy R&R, we invite you to bring your partner (or your mother or sister or best friend...) to class, for free, May 11-15. Let them experience the wobbly nature of tree, the intensity of Goddess pose, the slow burn of squats--and then the sweetness of savasana.

Sunday, May 11, through Thursday, May 15, bring a guest to class. All we ask is that you sign up in advance for the evening and weekend classes so we can be sure to have enough space for all the bodies and bellies. Reserve your spot online, or call the studio at 952.848.1111.
  • Sunday, May 11: 9:30-10:45am**
  • Monday, May 12: 9:15-10:30am and 5:15-6:30pm**
  • Tuesday, May 13: 9:15-10:45am and 6-7:15pm**
  • Wednesday, May 14: 3-4:15pm and 7-8:30pm**

** Reservations requested for these evening & weekend classes, please!

BLOOMA GOES TO THE MOVIES
Special Screening:
The Business of Being Born

Last November, women and their families packed the Oak Street Theater in Dinkytown to watch Ricky Lake's documentary about birth. This month, we are thrilled to offer a special follow-up screening of "The Business of Being Born." Join us at 7pm, Thursday, May 29, to watch the flick among friends in Blooma's cozy studio. We'll provide light refreshments and some comfy pillows, yoga mats, birthing balls--and even some chairs! :-) Suggested donation: $5.

A word about the documentary, from the filmmakers:

"Birth is a miracle, a rite of passage, a natural part of life. But birth is also big business. Compelled to explore the subject after the delivery of her first child, actress Ricki Lake recruits filmmaker Abby Epstein to question the way American women have babies.

The film interlaces intimate birth stories with surprising historical, political and scientific insights and shocking statistics about the current maternity care system. When director Epstein discovers she is pregnant during the making of the film, the journey becomes even more personal.

[The film asks]: Should most births be viewed as a natural life process, or0805_BizOfBeingBorn should every delivery be treated as a potentially catastrophic medical emergency?"

FROM THE MOVIE: Jen gives birth attended by Midwifery of Manhattan's Melanie Comer, CNM.
