Fireplaces in Public Spaces
Fireplaces are being used more than ever to create an atmosphere of warmth and comfort in offices, lobbies, restaurants, and other commercial buildings. In my experience, the two biggest obstacles are venting and styling...or, in other words...satisfying the mechanical inspector and the interior designer.
Here are several commercial jobs we recently completed. Each had it's unique requirements, with one of the eight (8) Town & Country fireplaces being the perfect solution.

The "Atrium" at Calvin College Administration Building features the TC54WS widescreen fireplace with the River Rock burner. This space required a dramatic European style design and venting at ground level below the windows...a spectacular fireplace wall...one of my personal favorites.

Grand Rapids Community Foundation lobby. This unique space is perfect for the TC42. And the black porcelain interior panels add to the drama of this sophisticated design. Building restrictions required a roof mounted power vent system.

MMPC Concierge Suite. This is what I call taking medical care to another level. The TC36 is faced with a decorative screen in gun metal on a striking slate wall. This installation required 60 ft of venting, with over 50' of horizontal run to the exterior wall.

Toyota of Grand Rapids service lounge. What a nice place to sit by a warm cozy fire while you wait for your car to be serviced. This TC36ST see thru fireplace has custom fitted bronze screens for customer safety. This was another job requiring a roof mounted power vent system.
The main floor of the new Calvin College Spoelhof Fieldhouse sports the TC42 with the Country Home burner system. Pretty comfy spot to sit and go over game stats..There's also a TC36 on the lower level. Can you name any other college fieldhouses with two fireplaces?
