Brigita Fuhrmann began her artistic career in her native Czech Republic. She came to the USA on a scholarship to study in the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan where she earned her BFA, and later at the Rhode Island School of Design where she earned her MAE. In 1992 she received an MFA in painting from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. Her personal style is a unification of strong academic studies in the Czech Republic and the freedom of expression she experienced when she began painting in the United States. She has exhibited widely in the United States, Europe, and Canada, winning several significant awards for her work. Brigita works in acrylic, watercolor, collage, printmaking, and fiber. In addition, she is the author and illustrator of one book and has illustrated numerous other books. All of her pieces in this show are oil, acrylic, and watercolor still lifes.
