Third Annual
Easthampton High School
Arts Festival
The Old Town Hall will be all EHS starting Saturday!
What started in 2008 as a one time project, brainchild of the Easthampton Arts Appreciation Guild, the EHS Arts Festival is now in it's third edition.
The particularity of this event is that a number of students got to frame their creations at Eastmont Custom Framing. Coming twice a week in groups of 2 or 3, they were able to learn and practice drymounting, matting, cutting glass or foamcore and assembling frames. This project has allowed them to live the complete experience of an artist, from conception and creation, to framing and exhibiting in an art gallery.

Don't miss the Artists Reception
this Saturday from 5 to 8PM,
part of ArtWalk Easthampton.
Students: bring your parents and show them what you did! Parents: bring your children, and your parents too! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Besides the work by the students from Ms Claveloux and Mr Rathburn's classes at the Elusie Gallery, you will also be able to see an exhibit of work by EHS faculty members across the hall in the ECA/ECC Gallery. Easthampton High students will provide the entertainment as well: The Jazz Combo will perform in the Flywheel Space from 5:30 to 6:30, followed by the Improv Squad from 6:30 until 7:30. This event has been made possible thanks to the Easthampton Learning Foundation, Big E's Supermarket and Eastmont Custom Framing.

A few other exhibits that I feel strongly about:
Ron Parent
is exhibiting recent seascapes in pastel at
the Forbes Library's Hosmer Gallery
until May 28

What I heard more than once from people who were at the reception last Saturday and had also seen his exhibit at the Elusie Gallery in October 2008 is that Ron Parent's work
"is even better now".
Go see for yourself!

My very own sister Jacqueline is having her FIRST exhibition!
Called
PROVENANCES
this exhibit, held at the Galerie Black & White in Lutry, Switzerland, features large format photographs on canvas taken near Lake Geneva, where she lives and where I grew up.

The Artist Reception, Vernissage in French, happens this Friday 5PM. Don't worry you can still make it there on time: there is a flight leaving Boston today at 6:20 PM and landing in Geneva at 11:10AM Friday morning!

Jacqueline's show ends June 28, so I'm sure she won't be too upset if you miss the Vernissage...

While in the area you HAVE to visit the Musee de l'Art Brut in Lausanne, just a few kilometers away (everything is just a few kilometers away in Switzerland!).
The Museum hosts Jean Dubuffet's own collection of Outsider Artwork collected since his first interest in this artform back in 1923 and that he donated to the City of Lausanne, after having stayed for about 10 years in East Hampton (the other one!) in the 50ies. It is an amazing journey through Non-Artists' minds and visions, nightmares and passions.
