It must be pretty clear to you by now that I like to play with words.

And yes, I admit, it's even be a bit of an obsession. But quite a harmless one as far as obsessions go: it doesn't cost me any thing, it doesn't hurt anyone and there are no risks of STD ( when in doubt I always use a rubber to erase the words I'm not comfortable with.)

I probably get this from growing up trilingual: German from my mother , French from my father, and Gibberish from my sister. Maybe also from my early travels though countries and continents where the languages were unfamiliar to me (that's when my sister's influence came in handy). I was often more interested in the way the words sounded and how they related to each other than in their meaning. I had no idea what they meant most of the time anyway.

I was extremely excited a couple of years ago when I came up with MALL WART. What a perfect play on word: MALL WART: the retail overgrowth! I thought for a few short days that I was a genius and would be  living off royalties from mugs and bumper sticker sales until I found out from the copyright people that about half a million people had already come up with that expression.
I still have a few MALL WART t-shirts somewhere, if you're interested. Cheap. Walmart prices!

By the way, did I ever tell you why I named the  art gallery Elusie? I did? Many times? Oh well, here we go one more time, just for the latest subscribers to this newsletter. Elusie is a combination of my two daughters name, Lucie and Elisa, with 4 of each name' 5 letters. I thought it sounded pretty cool with a bit of a frenchie touch and one "v" away from being elusive. What I didn't realize is that was a difficult word to spell and pronounce if you are not trilingual like me.

So here's a tip: just say L.U.Z. pronouncing each letter individually. It's so easy a Bush Man could do it, if you know what I mean.  Try it the next time you visit the Elusie Gallery. And if you can pronounce the U as if you had the lead role in "La Cage aux Folles", you'll make me very happy.

Super-calligraphic-isticexpialidocious!

There is something a bit marypoppinesque in the way Haydenville Artist Patricia Wilson came up with the calligraphic samples  I had asked her to design a few weeks ago for a line of  handmade messages that Eastmont is about to introduce.  She came back just a few days later  with a dozen of them, each more creative than the other, like all she had to do was pop them out of a bag like a coatrack!
Some of these unique calligraphic messages are pictured below(but they look MUCH better in real).

More will be available at Eastmont and on line very soon.

So if  you have a very special something to say to that very special someone?  If you really want to get the message across? If you want to communicate with style, artistry and elegance? If you want your message to make a lasting impression? If you want to show how much you care?

Then you need to communicate with an Eastmont exclusive calligraphic message. Ideal gifts for anniversaries, weddings, special events, or any occasion to be remembered in an unique and creative way.

Ranging in size from 5 x 7 to 11 x 14,  these calligraphic messages are all individually created by Patricia Wilson. They can be personalized for a small surcharge and are available framed or unframed. They retail for $20.00 and up, depending on the size and  =the complexity of the design.

Framing starts at $1.00 a united inch (for example $18.00 for an 8" x 10" frame). Custom messages can be special ordered, please inquire.

Please call 529-9265 or e-mail [email protected] for deadline and availability, and check our website soon for the latest designs.
