As you head north to picturesque Ephraim for the Fyr Bal Festival this weekend, you can't miss the Pine Grove Resort, 10080 Water St. on your right on the east side of the street. It's the only brown building (constructed from cedar and stone) in this part of pretty-in-white Ephraim.

We recently bumped into a couple, who were traveling out of the country and yet raving about the Pine Grove Resort. They stated it is their preferred choice for an annual escapade to Door County.  Like other travelers, they like the resort's location, amenities and service.  Here, rooms have views of Green Bay waters near Eagle Harbor. Four rooms have views of woods.

In all, 45 rooms are available here in two buildings that are simply named north and south buildings.  Each room has a private bathroom as well as microwave, refrigerator, coffee-maker, TV/cable.

Step out to your private deck or balcony and take a look around. For the best view, reserve the specialty suite. It's situated close to the water and has floor to cScandinavian Lodge Bannereiling windows  that take advantage of that location.  Pine Grove Resort also has a family suite-three bedrooms, two baths and a full kitchen, dining room with fireplace.

A breakfast buffet with homemade bakery items as well as fruit and yogurt is served near the check-in area.  Coffee is also available here.

As for current specials, the resort is offering gas coupons that range from $10 to $20 depending upon on how long you stay. Romantic getaway packages-offering wine, truffles and dinner out-are also available.

At the resort, an indoor pool draws guests. Its water depth ranges from three to five feet, and there is an adjacentParkwood Lodge 2010 banner  outdoor sun deck as well as plenty of chaise loungers.  Nearby is a game room and exercise room. Cross the street to the private sand beach and beach house shelter.

The resort is convenient to all Ephraim attractions including the famed Hardy Center for the Arts and Peninsula State Park. Learn more about Pine Grove Resort and other places to stay in Ephraim at www.doorcountynavigator.com.

The Peninsula Players launched its 77th season with the debut of "Opus" by Michael Hollinger, running through June 24 at Peninsula Players Theatre in a Garden, Fish Creek.

"Opus" is a comedy with high notes and hysteria. The storyline concerns the world-famous Lazara QuaEgg Harbor Lodge Bannerrtet, which  must replace a member prior to its White House debut. And things get tense, according to the Peninsula Players.

Also on the playbill this year is "The Nerd," a side-splitting comedy by Larry Shue running June 27 through July 22.  Next, the Broadway jazzy musical "Chicago" by Fred Ebb, Bob Fosse and John Kander, takes place from July 25 through Aug. 12.  It's followed by Agatha Christie's mystery "Murder on the Nile" on stage from Aug. 15 through Sept. 2.

Peninsula Players closes the season with "Lombardi" by Eric Simonson, which will run from Sept. 5 through Oct. 14.   Peninsula Players called "Lombardi" a "glimpse into the life of a legendary sports icon."

Peninsula Players perform during the summer Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 7:30 p.m. Matinees take place June 24, July 4, July 22, Aug. 12 andNewport Resort Banner  Sept. 2   Additional matinees for Lombardi are Sept. 16, 23 and Oct. 14.  Fall show times start on Sept 5 with curtain times at 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays.
