DoorCountyNavigator.com's  BLOG is hot!

Greetings!

Is everyone enjoying summer?  And our new interface on DoorCountyNavigator.com?  Great!  Here is your July 2011 Navigator News(tm)!

In this issue we continue with our new feature:  Eat, Stay, Explore, which we will run every month this year!  We have received numerous positive comments about this feature!

In each issue, we will offer information about three Door County sites:

1) a restaurant or food-related place (we think rather creatively, so don't be surprised to read about diners, coffee shops, bakeries and markets as well as restaurants)

2) a place to stay or rest (hotel, resort, inn, or campground) and

3) a destination to wander (nature-related, shopping-related, arty or event-focused. Again, there are no limits to our imagination, and there are vast places to explore around here). So hang on for a fun year!  And tell your friends to get in on the fun and subscribe - it's free!

And an additional two articles to keep you informed and ready to have fun.

Eat in Door County: Trio Restaurant, at 4555 Cty. Rd. E in Egg Harbor, serves country French and Italian cuisine May through October. It's a real hot spot. That's because the ambiance is comfortable and classy, the food is superb, the portions are just right and the service is oh, so friendly with many employees returning to seasonal work here for many years.

One of the staples on the handwritten menu is the flavorful bowtie pasta with salmon ($13.95). Pasta is made with smoked salmon, bacon, chopped tomato, capers, roastedThe Shallows Resort Banner peppers, garlic and olive oil.  Other entrees include grilled tuna steak, linguine Bolognese, pork roulade. Start with the house salad with balsamic vinaigrette.

Ask to see the dessert menu; try to save room for the olive oil cake, or at least share it with your partner. Other choices include tiramisu and homemade gelato.

Many tables overlook the courtyard adorned with a fountain and gardens. Get here at 5 p.m. on a Saturday if you want one of the best views. The Mediterranean decorating style-warm color palette, decorative wine bottles, pottery and oil paintings all around-affords diners abundant eye candy. Trio Restaurant is a great choice for couples and friends.

Stay in Door County:  Frontier Wilderness Campground, 4375 Hillside Rd. in Egg Harbor has a lot to offer: convenient location, varied campsites and abundant activities. The property has 240 sites including 170 seasonal sites.  There are also seven cabins nestled on the grounds.

Each site varies in size and shape. It includes water and electric hook-up services and picnic table. High-speed Internet access is available throughout the property.

The sites are large enough for a 40-foot trailer. They include a gravel area for parking surrounded by tall trees.

Toilets and changing areas can be found throughout the property.

As to the fun activities, there are indoor and outdoor areas including an indoor pool and an activity center.

Outdoor attractions include a nine-hole mini golf course, three playgrounds, sand volleyball court, horseshoe court, basketball courts, ball field and sauna.
