TIP OF THE WEEK

Did you know? National Volunteer Week is coming up April 27th.  National Volunteer Week was created in 1974 when President Richard Nixon signed an executive order to establish the week as an annual celebration of volunteering. And every year since that time, each U.S. President, along with many governors, mayors and other elected officials, has signed a proclamation promoting National Volunteer Week.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Attention Delivery Volunteers!

Please give away any extra beverages or meals you may have left at the end of your routes. MOW cannot re-use the meals if you return them.

ALSO... Please return any blue soft-sided coolers you may have - our supply is very low! Thanks!
Recycle Your Magnets And Paper
If you have any flat magnets (like the ones off phone books), we can use them to make Emergency Contact sheets for meal recipients!

It takes more than a ream of paper to run the route sheets each day and we do our best to use recycled paper, but our supply is low! We can use any paper that has been printed on one side, with no folds, staples or tears (outdated letterhead works great).
Please bring any donations to our office on Oregon St.

WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?

DONATE

MAGNETS: We can use magnets like the ones off phone books, and other promotions.

PAPER: We are in need of donated paper to use for route sheets - printed on one side, neat and clean, no tears, folds, wrinkles or staples.  Out of date, unused letterhead is ideal.

CANNED FRUITS AND VEGETABLES
: Host a food Drive to benefit Meals on Wheels.  Download our Food Drive tools at www.mealsonwheelsgreenville.org/donate/to_donate.shtml

MAKE REGULAR DONATIONS WITHOUT PULLING OUT YOUR CHECK BOOK: If you make donations on a regular basis (or want to), we are now able to process Automated Recurring Billing transactions (automatic draft) to your credit card.  That's right, you can donate without having to write a check or pay for the postage.  Whether it is $5 a week, $50 a month or $5,000 a year you set the amount and billing frequency.  Contact Sheryl at 864-233-6565 x219 or Maureen x218 for more details.

FRIENDLY REMINDERS

INCLEMENT WEATHER
In the event of Inclement Weather, please check WYFF4 or News Channel 7 to find out if Meals on Wheels is open or closed.

IF YOU HAVE...
*Concerns of any kind about a recipient
*Direction changes or delivery information

Please call Rebecca Rebecca@mowgvl.org 233-6565 x-213 or Adrianne adrianned@mowgvl.org 233-6565 x-225

REMEMBER...
Keep hot meals separate from cold drinks and cold meals. It is all about food safety!

BYOC
We encourage volunteers to bring their own insulated containers.  A larger one for your hot meals (perhaps on wheels) and a smaller one for cold/frozen meals and cold beverages.  Using your own container ensures that there will always be one available for you and that it is clean!  It also eliminates the need to return to MOW after your route to return coolers which saves you time and mileage.

NEED A DAY OFF?
Please let us know if you are unable to volunteer on your regular day due to vacation, illness, or for any other reason so we may arrange for a substitute.  If you have arranged for your own substitute, THANK YOU! but still let us know who will be filling your shoes.

SUBSTITUTE LIST AVAILABLE
If you have not done so, please pick up a list of substitues for your route at the reception desk.
