Taking a Toll

We go and go and commit ourselves to more and more... but is all of this added stress taking a toll on our appearance? I know for me, this is definitely the case! So I sat down with Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Vincent P. Marin, MD, FACS for a little chat to find out answers and possible quick fixes.
In a nutshell, beyond the natural aging process, environmental stressors are one of the biggest culprits to rob us of that "youthful glow". And believe it or not, our eyes are one of the first dead giveaways of not enough sleep, poor hydration, stress, and aging in general.
Don't you just hate it when someone asks you if you are tired, when you're really not? I get this question sometimes too and I need a solution. During my one-on-one with Dr. Marin, I found out about a wonderful light-surgery option.
Dr. Marin explained that the lower eyelid "is the most common area to show not only signs of aging, but stress." Apparantly, fat can build up in the area, creating a sagging, tired look that can add years (years?!) to one's appearance. Dr. Marin adds, "Now more than ever before, patients are coming in and saying that they want to eliminate that tired look.
By using a surgical procedure called trans-conjunctival blepharoplasty, we can greatly improve the appearance of the eyes with minimal downtime." (I like the sound of that!) During this operation, a small incision is made to remove the built-up fat in the eyelid region. This technique has the added benefit of minimal to no bruising and no scar around the eye.
