Greetings!

While most folks are enjoying their summer vacations, the staff and
interns at ECC are hard at work. With a new group of interns from UT
and exciting projects on the horizon, there is a lot going on in our
office! Summer is also a very busy time for our food pantry as the
kids of East Austin are out of school and may not be able to access
their free or reduced breakfast/lunch programs. With an even higher
demand than usual we are in need of volunteers and donations to help
us maintain the quality of services our clients require. Please
consider making an online donation or stopping by the office to help
bag and distribute food. Have a happy and safe 4th of July holiday
from all of the volunteers, staff, and leadership of Eastside
Community Connection!

In order to to help our clients develop the language skills necessary to live and work in Austin, Eastside Community Connection is continuing its ESL class efforts throughout the summer.Past lessons have included visits to a doctor, grocery shopping, job applications and so on. According to our ESL Director, Mayra Roman, "it's more than knowing what words mean but knowing when and how to use them." Classes are absolutely free of charge and take place every Monday and Thursday from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the Memorial United Methodist Church (6100 Berkman Drive).
