Greetings!
The past months for Eastside Community Connection have consisted of two successful community events at which ECC volunteers and contributors showed immense support. We have initiated valiant recruitment efforts for future interns and produced a promotional video you can now find on Youtube. Your support this month has shown us the effect a collaborative community effort can have on our organization. |
| EASTSIDE BOIL | |
 Event Recap
On April 16th, the 10th annual Eastside Boil was held in support of our local East-Austin community. Over 600 attendees came together to eat Louisiana crawfish, donate to ECC, and have a great time!
The Eastside Boil started ten years ago in Zilker Park with just a couple of college friends. It has now grown into a full-blown cookout sporting 1000lbs of Louisiana crawfish, a photo-booth, sound stage, piņata-bash, and beanbag toss!
With the help of the supportive Austin community and various Texas corporate sponsors, we were able to raise over $15,000! This money will be directly injected into the East-Austin community and will support ECC's future development.
We would like to extend a special thanks to all of the Eastside Boil staff, corporate sponsors, individual donors, and the volunteer staff for hosting the event!

| COMMUNITY MEMBERS - HOW TO GET INVOLVED | |
 Make Your MarkAs a member of the ECC community, there are many ways you can impact our organization, our volunteers, and our clients.
Board of Directors The board must help raise money, bring contacts to the organization, provide special skills and other resources, and act as ambassadors to the community. The board must select the executive director, evaluate the executive director's performance, review and authorize plans and commitments, ensure compliance with legal requirements, and evaluate the organization's work.
Student Intern Mentor ECC interns take on the business and organizational roles that move ECC forward. As a Student Intern Mentor, you will serve as a resource for interns within your area of expertise. Be it marketing or finance, our organization and interns will benefit from your time and talent.
Leadership Council ECC has created the Leadership Council to assist with the function of fundraising and organization development. The Leadership Council will advise the Board of Directors on issues of importance and help raise money for ECC.

| SPECIAL THANKS | |
 2011 Donors and Special Members We would especially like to thank the Texas Lassos for their hard work this month on their UT campus-wide ECC food drive and fundraiser. Lassos collected hundreds of canned goods, diapers and monetary donations from university organizations to donate to ECC. In addition, Lassos held an ECC benefit at Spill bar on April 13 where attendees donated directly to ECC.
We would like to thank all of our donors for contributing to the Emerging Leaders Dinner on March 31 as well as the EastSide Boil on April 16. For a full list of 2011 donors, please visit our website.
