Greetings!
 Happy 4th of July!
Summer is officially here. The weather is getting hot, the kids are out
of school, and its time for summer vacations.
The month of July
always reminds me of freedom and the freedom of choice. I believe the
same applies to our creativity. I hope you join me this month in
exercising our creative freedom to step out of the box and try some new
things!

inside the studio

July has become a very hectic month filled with travel, deadlines, and new lots of new products. Here is a sneak peak of some of the fun kits that i have been working on inside the studio and should be available in the shop next week as we finish all the final assembly. I also just bought some beautiful new fabrics for another release of inspiration journals...beautiful pinks, purples, yellows and greens! These should be ready in the next few weeks. As well as, working on new canvases and finishing up the last touches to my next Prima release! With CHA just around the corner the excitement builds for all the new ideas and product to be seen! |

I bought this book over 4th of July weekend. Now, I admit I love books and have the book cases to prove that if it is craft related I probably have the book on it. However, I bought The Crafter's Devotional and I am now carrying it with me everywhere. It is a daily reminder to create, giving creative permission with just enough of a push to make you feel energized to try something new without teetering you over the edge of uncomfortableness. My favorite part about it is that the book covers a wide range of techniques and genre's of craft...again burring that line that i love to cross over so much! Here is the product description off of Amazon:
There
is something elemental shared among artists and crafters, regardless of
chosen medium: creative energy. Crafters dabble, collaborate, muse, and
make, all in their own way and on their own timeline. For all crafts,
there are established techniques to follow but wild, innumerable ways
to experiment, using the basics to launch crafters to new heights. Crafter's Devotional
can aid that launch. Each day of the year is given its own focus, on
which the reader will find a daily dose of craft content that inspires,
instructs, and illuminates.
INSPIRATION WEDNESDAYS:Visit my blog every Wednesday and see how I am inspired to create in my personal inspiration journal and invite and encourage you to share your inspiration by
sharing links to your own creative pieces, as well as, inspirational
stories and websites.

trash to treasure
|
Take a look at what Pippa did with last month's trash to treasure "Book Text" challenge! Pippa got the idea for covering her guitar case from a scrapbook cover she did. She really loves the torn-up collage look where you can't really read what's on the page. Her guitar case had a few flowers painted on with nail polish and wasn't looking too good, so she thought she would just cover it with book pages! She painted gel medium onto the case and stuck the torn pages down, painting another layer of gel medium on top. She was only able to work in small areas because the gel medium was very quick-drying. The extra layer of gel medium on top helped to finish it off nicely, giving it a nice smooth finish. She was going to do the other side too, but she quite with just the front done. Now she is wondering what else she can cover with book pages... This month's trash to treasure idea is recycled soda cans: ideas to think about: - cut them up into tin shapes.
- smash them and create a piece of assemblage art
- recycle them for cash!
- save the can tabs and create a cool embellishment
- cut and sew the tin pieces to create a cool metal quilted background
e-mail me your project pictures using book text with the subject line "coke cans" before August 1st and you could be featured in the next Creative Playground newsletter. |
campaign for creativity
|
As I launched "inspiration wednesdays" this past month I have witnessed a change not only in myself, but in so many others. A creative change for the good. Woman, artists, friends all reaching outside of their comfort zones and embracing a new side of their creative potential. It excites me to see the smiles that result from their creative victories.
I am continually inspired
by how the simple act of encouragement and the freedom to
create without limits changes a person. I am so excited to see
where the campaign for creativity takes us, i am hoping it inspires a
new revolution of confidence in each one of us. Please join me every week on my blog for inspiration wednesdays.
Always remember to..... believe in your creative potential enjoy the creative process try something new explore new possibilities but most of all believe.
