inside the studio
finally!
Besides the fun stuff to play with inside my studio ( ...which no doubt makes me happy), we have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of some of the fun things we ordered at CHA, like my AccuQuilt! it is here! It came a couple days ago and immediately Payton and I assembled her and began cutting shapes form scraps of fabric! "HAPPY PLACE!" We also just picked up our new Campaign for Creativity brand V-neck T's and Hoodies! It took quite a while, back and forth with the samples, to get the printing quite right on these because of the artwork application and i am thrilled with the result and the color, bright and bold! And my most favorite, over the top thing... SOCKS! i just got the call that my new " live inspired." socks are shipping out TODAY and should be here early next week! I cannot wait to run in these cuties, i think we need to assemble a global team inspired. running group! how cool would that be? Ok, the socks make me completely giddy! i am hoping to work on some more inspiration journals this week for all those who have put in requests for colors, i am on it! Also, over the next month i will be working on designing some additional fabric components for my Fabric Scrapbooking line with Prima. The line is expected to ship and be in stock in the next 3 weeks. I should be finishing up the instructions and info on the my new Fabric Scrapbooking workshop this weekend and it has already started booking! i might be teaching it at a store near you so be on the lookout.

LIFE'S SIMPLE MESSAGES
I
read this message the other day in a book entitled, " Where will you be
in five years?". I bought from Starbucks of all places just before the
holidays. The whole idea just caught my attention and the impulse
purchase came home with me. Recently i took the book out from under
things in my studio. As i started to walk through the prompts, I came
across a page that just resonated with me. A series of motivational
blurbs/thoughts. I photocopied the page and taped it in 2 different
places inside my studio and adhered a third copy of it in my inspiration journal. These are the types of messages and
thoughts that keep me grounded, encouraged and motivated. I want to
bring these messages into my work and create pieces that bring out and
inspire others to see the best in themselves. This is perhaps the most
enjoyable part of the process. As you read through these think
about where you will be in five years and how theses messages can help
play a role in helping you achieve your dreams. - MOVE FORWARD
- "Yesterday is a cancelled check. The past is not your potential.
There are far better things ahead than any you leave behind. the next 5
years are a blank canvas - clean and bright. Decide that you will throw
all the paint on it you can."
- KEEP YOUR WORD - "Say
what you mean, and mean what you say. Look the world straight in the
eye. Live and work with honesty, openness and integrity; keep your
promises, and everything else is a piece of cake."
- LIFE
IS TOO SHORT TO BE CRANKY - " Attitude is a choice. We create our own
world by the way we choose to see it. For the next five years your mind
can focus on fear, worry, problems, negativity or despair. or it can
focus on confidence, opportunity, solutions, optimism and success. You
decide."

trash to treasure
plastic
Meet Jennifer Slutsky, optometrist by day, and crafter by night. Not only do I love her work, I love her name, too! Check out her innovative use of "bits" from last month's trash to treasure challenge! I love the idea of using your scraps to create framed art pieces and what a brilliant idea to use mix-matched chipboard alphabet letters from your stash to create themed pieces! "Inspired by my creative family, I have always loved making personalized, handmade gifts. I've explored countless different crafts, including scrapbooking (paper and digital), rubber stamping, knitting, sewing, needle felting, and paper crafts. After years of hoarding craft supplies, I wanted to find a creative way to use my stash. The results are these inspirational word art pieces. I started making them as gifts, but have enjoyed making them so much that I have started selling them. Please visit me on Etsy, Facebook, and my blog. I'm always looking for new crafting friends."For more fun ideas on how to use the bits of stuff accumulating your stash check out these ideas. From milk cartons to masterpieces! Dear Kandi
Article Subtitle
I have taken over the role as "first line of defense" (so to speak). If you have any questions, please contact me. There is a LOT going on at dd, llc, such as ... inspired 2009 (in case you've been under a rock) and ALL of the behind the scenes stuff to go with it, new product launching from Prima Marketing (designed by Donna), new promotional products in the works, participation in CHA Summer 2009, planning and arranging travel for Donna to teach all over the world!, and we still have to find time for Donna to just create and inspire! If you have questions on your orders, product, travel (anything), please feel free to contact me. You might even have a better shot at getting a response sooner than competing with about 400+ e-mails that already go to Donna! Just a suggestion... A special note to all inspired registrants, I am working on a separate newsletter for you which will contain a lot of information that you've been looking for. If you do not receive it but know that a co-registrant did, please contact me as soon as possible! Although many stores and such dedicate an entire shelf or even an entire aisle for candy, Donna Downey, LLC, has dedicated a small desk area and a computer that can pass as a notebook! I promise that I am here to help! Help me help you ... (a line from an actor(ess) portraying a character in a movie? - first response with all correct, gets a free gift!) Signed, Donna's Kandi in Despiration
