What a whirlwind january! Between the fabulous week in the Carribean on the Ultimate Cruise and the week in sunny California for CHA, the inside of the studio definitely pails in comparison. I did manage to get a couple of canvases painted for a new idea i have been working on as well as some inspiration journals in various degrees of started. Now with a clean and organized studio i feel like i am ready for the creative inspirations to make a mess of my space all over again! HA! Kandi and I have started scheduling all of the Inspired mini-workshops, collecting the Inspired Artists handout step-by-step project instruction information and the garage is quickly becoming a tightly cramped warehouse of class supplies. Never a dull moment! We will be having a VERY busy next few months so hold on to your hats people, full speed ahead!!

YOU! empowerment in NUMBERS! The Campaign for Creativity is growing and gaining momentum since I introduced the idea in October. The inertia generated from the belief in our creative voices has been overwhelming. the community formed, the comraderie, the sharing and the outpouring of support for each other has spoken volumes about the passion each of us feels in our hearts towards this universal language of ART. In the next few months I will be working on taking this campaign to the next level, formulating a platform for us to spread the positive intentions of our creative souls. YOU inspire me, challenge me, share with me and motivate me on a daily basis. These gifts are priceless and immeasurable...thank you! I encourage you to write these words down: write them in your journal, on a post-it note or print it in your favorite computer font. "believe in your creative potential, enjoy the creative process, try something new, explore new possibilities, but most of all believe."
reflect on them every chance you get and remind your self to live everyday to its fullest. "live a life inspired. dream with possibility."
Carry this message in your heart and pass it along to those around you that could benefit from the confidence it bares with it.

Meet Deb Townsend from Dayton, Ohio and her creative mini album that not only showcases her families holiday greetings, but also recycles and reinvents ordinary holiday postage and postmarks as functional embellishments .
"I
love making little albums, so I wanted to try to make something using
the cards and pictures we got for Christmas-I would have never thought
to use the postage and postmark without your challenge!
I
used the strips of postage along with the postmark to make the cover
for the book. I liked that you could see the locations from where the
cards were sent. I then used the cards as pages keeping the ones with
letters inside open so that the sentiments could be read. Other cards
that were only signed, I made into folders for all the pictures that we
received. I attached ribbon to the tops of the pictures so they could
easily be pulled out of the "folders". I also used one "folder" for
all the newsletters we received. I used leftover postage as tabs."
see more pictures of deb's album here.
This month's trash to treasure challenge is to use up those ribbon and/or fabric bits! That somehow collect and multiply. I always end up with 3-5" pieces of ribbon and fabric that i simply cannot bring myself to throw away. Let's see if we can work together to USE THEM UP this month!
If you're up to this month's challenge, email photos of your Trash to Treasure project to donna@donnadowney.com
by February 26th and write "BITS" in the subject line and
you just might find your work may be featured in the next Creative
Playground newsletter.
