Greetings!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Starting the new year off right, I have vowed to keep an art journal chronicling my year, a 365 day photo diary and I have official joined Nutrisystem, should be here any day now! I asked Bill to take the official before photo yesterday, quite frightening! I plan on creating an album to document MY SUCCESS, I will say that again, MY SUCCESS! I am INSPIRED and invigorated for 2008! |

I am ready and excited about the fresh beginnings the new year brings with it.
I have already started my new art journal for 2008, i plan to make this a place where i creatively capture and explore my creative growth and transitions. the journal will function as a visual diary of my personal creative play. The journal itself is a black 8.25 x 5.5"
Hand Book Artist Journals
I bought online at dickblick.com. I am also planning to make more video tutorials documenting my creative play. I just bought this camera and one it gets here, i am hoping i can manipulate it so that it makes your vantage point viewing a bit more comfortable.
I have also started a really low maintenance 365 days album.
I plan on taking a photo a day, everyday and collecting them all into these We R Memory Keepers 4x6 photo sleeves. Each photo will include the date and any text written directly onto the photo using Photoshop. This way I can collect each photo in a file and print them out and simply insert them in the pages. I will be compiling the page protectors in a 12x12 American Crafts customizable album so that down the road I can alter and decorate the front. If your interested in other 365 days ideas check out these sites: |

 - Paulette Insall: her artwork and her willingness to share her process has really inspired me to reach that much further.
- I love the idea of a jigsaw swap. The finished project is spectacular!
- Browse around here for a bit of inspiration, each post is better than the next.

trash to treasure
|
Check out last month's trash to treasure submission of handmade Christmas gifts made by Ania from Norway. Can you believe her ingenuity, she made these form glue dot rolls! way to go Ania! http://aniia.blogspot.com ------
To make this one you need
- thread
- two small buttons
- A bird template (I used maya road chipboard birdies)
- patterned papers (I used Creative Imaginations and Daisy D papers)
- empty roll of gluedots
- White dabber paint (acrylic paint - an inkpad works just as well)
Paint the edges of the gluedot-roll.
Cut strips of patterned papers, glue to both the inside and outside of
the gluedot-roll. Cut any excess with a craft knife. Glue patterned papers to the
chipboard birdies. Glue paper to the wings as well - two - one for each
side. When glue is dry, cut around the bird with a craft knife to get
rid of excess-paper. Glue pattern to the other side of the bird as well.
Tap a little paint at the edges of the bird to give it a nice outline (or use ink here - your choice). Glue the wings to the
bird. Make a little hole in the middle of the circle (I used my trusty
crop-a-dile to this - easypeasy!). Make a little hole on the bird
as well. Tie thread to the bird, tie a button to the thread about one cm
over the bird (check with your circle for the correct distance). Thread the
thread through the hole in the circle, tie another button there. If
done right the buttons should keep the thread in one place so the bird
wont slide to the top of the circle kinda. Make a loop thingie and
voila - you have a cute little Christmas Tree Decoration!
See more holiday handmade gifts here!
Lets start off the trash to treasure 2008 by going green and this month lets recycle our Christmas cards! use the photo cards and create a layout, punch shapes and colorful combinations from cards. silhouette Christmas images and add them as embellishments to your holiday pages, or simply use the inside blank white of the card as a recycled photo mat! lets see how going green can save you some scrapbooking cash this new year!
If you're up to the challenge, email your trash to treasure pictures to donna@donnadowney.com and write "holiday cards" in the subject line and you just might find your work may be featured in the February Creative Playground newsletter.
