bio
In the past 6 years of scrapbooking, I feel that I've
evolved into my comfort zone/altered journal work.
I've designed patterned paper for the industry as well
as for myself through my company captured elements.
I've been on design teams and co-authored idea books,
but my true love of art is in my journal work. Driven
by my daily inspirations; my boys', family, friends;
random life elements. the fact that I can say things
through my journals that I otherwise wouldn't is
bonus. I've traveled and done instructionals for 3
years, and presently my instructionals are done in my
home in Kansas City, Missouri where I live with my 2
sons Bobby and Ethan 22/17. I enjoy instructing and
teaching my thoughts; -concepts that evolve into my
artwork. -throwing other artists a
thought/technique/concept and seeing them use it to
their advantage in their journals, scrapbook page,
etcetera. I think my trademark is the fact that I
create raw journals. Using elements in my work that
aren't easily found, but relate to what i'm working on
which are usually related to my boys' and their life
events; sports,etcetera. These journals aren't
glamorous. They're realistic. It's normal to see me
pick up something in a parking lot to later use in a
journal!
Life is art, and I think that it's important to show
it off!

class
the ordinary transformed: an inspired art journey
My class was designed to introduce and explore cutting edge techniques
i.e.: tape transfer, bleaching and altering and show how versatile they
are on any project from a scrapbook page to an altered book. the same
concepts and techniques can be used to fit many
scrapbooking styles.
in this class we will 1. use tape transfer techniques 2. experiment with dyes and bleach to transform manilla folders into a unique mini journal/album
3.journal with a nib pen and printers ink4. add dimension...we will add TONS! and do it semi-cleanly *wink
5.work with photo distortion (bring dupe photos please!)
my work is very cutting edge; unique, but if you
really look at it, it's simplistic. I will teach you
what and how to look at outside inspiration. I'll have
some of my personal journals with me so you can look,
and yes, TOUCH! I'll talk about what inspires my
journal work, and how I work them from start to
finish. it's easy to take one technique and to give it
many different appearances; from clean and neat to
completely altered and raw. the focus of
the class is artistic PLAY.
altering is a great concept to fall back on, almost
necessary when you compile as many scrapbooks/journals
as most of us do!!
