Greetings!
Wow, can you believe summer is almost over and its already time for the kids to go back to school? This is such a exciting month as I'm finishing the final stages of my new books and we are also launching registration for the INSPIRED event. We have been working hard on adding some exciting new sponsors and features for the event. Be sure to check out the event page. It will be a blast!

Creativity LIVES here! I say that because I sometimes feel like I can sit and stare at my supplies all day and feel not one jolt of creative incentive and lately I have felt like there is not enough time to get it all out (which by the way, there is never enough time!) I think working on this book has been an amazing metamorphosis for me, this may be some of my most productive and creative work ever! I can't wait to share it with you!
And speaking of creativity, HOLY COW... INSPIRED. registration opens in 2 weeks!!! I cannot wait for this event, there will be more inspiration, creativity, opportunity and hands-on fun packed into this event than I have ever seen. And for those of you questioning if you can be a beginner, the answer is 100% absolutely! I fully designed and expect people to come with little or no experience in many of the creative mediums...that is why I created an event that will expose and INSPIRE everyone to see new creative potential around every corner.
I will be continuously adding to the event sponsor and market fair participant information and posting it to the site. Please make sure to keep your eye on those links as they build.
I have also been organizing some amazing teachers to teach the optional evening mini workshops. These classes will introduce techniques and/or expand your experiences with knitting, crochet, polymer clay, mixed media, cardmaking, stamping and so much more...check the online schedule for more information.
If that wasn't enough, I am building a market fair on site that will bring the best of all things purchasable in the world, right to your fingertips!
So yes, SUPER exciting things are going on inside the studio this month!
That said, outside the studio, on Wed, Sept. 5 Bill and I are headed to SOUTH AFRICA. I am so excited to be going back to SA and teaching at the convention. This trip I get the chance to share this beautiful country and the delightful people with my husband. We will return home on the morning on the 16th...(OK BAD TIMING) however never fear, Charles and Tiphoni, my incredible web design team will be at the ready for registration...no worries!

I have been scrapbooking!! Yes, i know that sounds odd to proclaim, but I feel like I never just sit down and scrapbook pages as I once did. Even with looming impossible deadlines I am feeling and enjoying the mojo. I have been USING my products!! Now i know why i hoard product, because having the right product on hand while is priceless! Do you remember last month when I moved my brads and buttons into the drawers? LOVING IT!!!
As of today, i have completed 74 of the 100 pages I want to have done for the book, so i figured i would share some of the items i have been most inspired to use...
- i have re-thought my ribbon organization and decided that I needed something more accessible and easier to color match to the project I am working on. I found these ribbon organizers and i have been loving them. makes flipping through my ribbons like a big swatchbook of color
- so grateful for my 12 x 12 dividers for my most favorite paper trays.they have made searching and finding the right papers and colors so much easier.
- i cannot stop using buttons, buttons and more buttons! I really like these ones from Autumn Leaves. I wouldn't have considered myself a button person, but lately each time i place a button on my page i get a smile on my face. Pure delight!
- I just bought Tim Holtz's new stamp pad case and, oh my is it so much more convenient! I almost bought the smaller one,so glad i didn't because i filled this big one with no problem.
- I also bought this pack of amy butler paper...it was a total impulse purchase and i am really glad i did! these patterns are fabulous!
- i am expecting these stamps by fancy pants because I seriously NEED the super large swirl corners!!!

trash to treasure - repeat!
|
ok, I forgot to remind you about the trash to treasure challenge, my bad. So this month we are doing a repeat.
But before we do, i just wanted to share this cool page submitted by Stacy Raml, from Baltic, South Dakota and the owner of ZanyZinnia.com. Well done!
This
month lets do it by the book again!! OK, altered book. What can you do with
your old book or dictionary pages this month? Try your hand at
decoupage, use it as patterned paper, cut it out for embellishments or
simply alter the book itself. I am really excited to see just how far
you can take this one!
If you're up to the challenge, email your trash to treasure pictures to donna@donnadowney.com and write "book pages" in the subject line and you just might find your work may be featured in the October Creative Playground newsletter. |

Hi Everyone,
Finally, registration time for the INSPIRED event is here! Please be sure to contact the resort to book your rooms. If you are looking to come in early and/or stay late, please call the resort instead of booking online to reserve the additional nights. Also be sure to use the event code "mga" to make your reservations and to insure you get the discounted rate. If you have any questions or problems with your reservation, please let me know.
Also don't forget to invite your husband or the man in your life bring to the event. We are hosting some exciting events for the guys. Since the resort has its very own golf course, we will be arranging some fun golf activities for the gentlemen. In addition we are looking to schedule some tours of Lowes Motor Speedway.
In addition, don't forget to let the the guys know that the resort offers a great fitness center, lounge, and spa to relax in while your attending your workshops. Also the resort is right next to Concord Mills Shopping Center which offers several great restaurants, bars and sport shops.
