I am pleased to announce the first donna downey hosted event,
INSPIRED. ARTIST WORKSHOP April 10-12, 2008
Finally, an amazingly creative and fun-filled weekend event to hit the southest! I have gotten some of the most innovative artists across several creative industries to be a part of what promises to be a one of a kind event. Each of the six 3-hour mini-workshops will focus on the design stylings of individual artists within several genre's of the craft industry. Learn to create from the best while you explore fine art pencil crayon tecniques, 3-dimentional fabric design, outrageous home decor creativity, scrapbook design with a kick, inspirational and creative art journal play and interactive mixed media ingenuity. Each evening I will host open art forums where you can bring all your stuff and play and create in any genre of craft you would like or perhaps take part in a mini class or introduction activity into something NEW! I am excited, no exhillerated!...and the fun is not going to stop there! There will be plenty of on site shopping from every fascet of craft and hobby industry, including some very special surprises! Seating will be limited and be sure to book your room early to make sure you have secured the best seat in the house! The hotel is on a golf course, in the heart of Nascar, surrounded by restaurants and across from the largest outlet mall in all of NC, so no doubt you can extend your stay, maybe even bring your husband, I am bringing mine!! LOL! If you have any questions, feel free to email me or Bill. donna@donnadowney.combill@donnadowney.com |

inside the studio
|
A lot has been hppeneing inside the studio, but not a whole lot I can share. I have 5 of the 25 fabric projets for book 4 left to complete and then ALL of the text and the step-by-steps which takes me longer to write than to make the projects.
In the mean time I have managed to find ample time to procratinate. i have spend a few afternoons organizing my fabric, notions, papers, and embellishments as well as my wood mounted stamps. Truly the passion behind my stamp purchases is the collection of images, so with a lack of scrapbooking creativity I decided to focus my attention elsewhere. I started searching my house for any shelves that would allow me to display my stamps on the walls of my studio...and guess what I found some! I have one more left to hang and thenI should be done until the next mood strikes me. I really happy with them out in the open, hey, I may even use one or 2 now!
Then there is my new studio mascot, TANGO, our newest addition to the downey household...he keeps me company lately as i work. i love this little guy!

trash to treasure (repeat)
|
Ok i do not believe that you did not go shopping last month, but since i did not get any submissions i am pulling a do-over of last month's challenge...
Summertime
means time to switch out the sweaters for the tank tops, the boots for
the flip-flops and the pants for the shorts. Inevitably this means a
shopping excursion for not only myself, but for the whole family
because either I (unfortunately) or my family has grown out of their
wardrobe. So in honor of this summertime tradition, this month's trash
to treasure challenge should incorporate turning those merchandise
tags/price tags from our summertime purchases into something worth
keeping. The next time you go to Target or your local scrapbook store
document your trip (or trips) by creating a page or altering them
somehow to create something unique!
If you're up to the challenge, email your trash to treasure pictures to donna@donnadowney.com and write "shopping tags" in the subject line and you just might find your work may be featured in the August Creative Playground newsletter. |
