Last chance to sign up for our Drew Estate Cigar Safari trip to Nicaragua:

October 28th-31st
Lake Nicaragua  You are invited to join us for an incredible vacation to Nicaragua, hosted by Jonathan Drew of Drew Estate, October 28th - 31st, 2009.  If you attended the Drew Estate event or dinner in July you will remember Jonathan talking about this Cigar Safari trip.  To me it is best described as a "cigar related vacation."  There is a good focus on cigars, but there is also some tourism involved with time to see some beautiful sights in Nicaragua, including a boat ride in lake Nicaragua, a look at an active volcano, a tour of a 400 year old colonial city, and more.  You will also enjoy the whole trip at a relaxed pace.

With plenty of time to just kick back and relax at the palatial main house and guest houses that were built just one year ago behind the Drew Estate factory on a hill overlooking Esteli, the cigar-making capital of Nicaragua.
Pool area
This property has the best view in all of Esteli and we can enjoy it from the comfort of the leather sofas and club chairs in the second floor living room and game room of the main house.

As relaxing and comfortable as these tours and accomadations are (including flatscreen televisions, air conditioning, and hot water in the guest houses, not exactly always seen in Central America), the trip is really about cigars, and that's where the fun starts!

We will tour two factories plus tobacco warehouses, including the Drew Estate cigar factory, and the Joya De Nicaragua cigar factory.  Both factories will give you an incredible insight into just how much goes into the manufacturing of a premium handmade cigar.

JdN Factory

The Joya De Nicaragua factory is one of the oldest continually running factories in all of Central America and is considered the original Nicaraguan cigar brand.

By contrast, Drew Estate recently built an enormous state of the artDE Factory factory to consolidate three smaller factories into this one primary facility.  You will get a complete tour of each.

After the tour of the Drew Estate factory, you will have a very unique opportunity:  blending your own cigar.

That's right, not rolling your own cigar, but blending your own cigar blend.  Choosing from a menu of over two dozen super premium "Liga Privada" grade tobaccos from around the world, you will be able to pick out the exact blend you want to have for the cigar of your choice.  You can get as much or as little assistance from the professionals with this as you desire.  Jonathan Drew and his other master blenders will be there to answer questions, but in the end, the final decisions are up to you.  What's best is that you will get a box of these custom blended cigars rolled for you to bring home, all included in the cost of the trip.  I believe this is a once in a lifetime experience and a dream for any cigar smoker.

DE logo Between the combination of tourism and cigar education this vacation cannot be beat.  The cost of the trip itself is $450 per person which includes a hotel stay in Grenada (the colonial city near lake Nicaragua), meals in restaurants, the box full of custom cigars you will blend and bring home, plus all you can eat, drink and smoke while you are on the trip.  All of these expenses are covered in the $450 and prepaid by Drew Estate so you will not need to bring anymore than a nominal amount of money with you for any souveniers you may want to purchase.  For couples, if one of the two does not smoke cigars and does not participate in the blending of their own cigars, their is a significantly reduced rate for a couple.

Airfare must be arranged through travel agent Sue Bruno, as there is only one flight to Managua, Nicaragua the day we are going, and only one flight returning to the U.S. the date of our return, so everyone must be on these flights together.  Here is Sue Bruno's phone number.  Dial her extension or simply ask the operator to connect you to her specifically, as she is the contact person for our trip:  850-434-2543 extension 1221.
Jonathan with monkey Be sure to reserve your spot today.  In order to be sure you are guaranteed a spot on the trip you must make the payment of $450 to Cordova Cigars, which we will forward to Drew Estate at the time of the trip.  Next you must make sure you have all of your airfare in order with Sue.  Prices can change daily on airfare.  It is definitely best to act sooner rather than later in regards to the airfare as the flight could fill up and there is only one flight to and from Managua, Nicaragua.

We certainly hope you will be able to join us as this is an incredible vacation and a learning experience all in one.  Feel free to call me if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,
Robbie Morton
