Stand out from the crowd with Mike Kenny's adaptation of "The Little Mermaid" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last month's newsletter introduced one of the most
talented and original playwrights of our time, Mike
Kenny. His adaptation of the "Little Mermaid" is a
perfect example of his ability to make everything old
new again. This invigorating script presents a new
look at a well-known and loved classic.
This two person play consists of narration by one male (Jetsam), and one female (Flotsam). Additional characters, such as: Little Mermaid, Prince, Grandmother, and Sea Witch are intertwined throughout the story. This provides the script with a great deal of versatility, and also presents an interesting challenge for actors. The twists and turns of this contemporary version of "The Little Mermaid" help the piece cross age barriers; an intergenerational audience will be engaged by the fast moving, entertaining, and emotional story. Whether this classic story is well-known to the audience or not...it will leave them begging for more. This riveting tale of perseverance, hope, and true love is the perfect addition to any season's repertoire. |
