Greetings!

'Tis the season for giving thanks, and giving to others. Many people feel that the holiday season is one of the most stressful times of the year. Although it does come with certain stresses, try to focus on all the good that is around you. Use this as a time of reflection on the past year and preparation for the upcoming year!

One of the questions in the networking game at the recent Business Conference was "have you written your goals for 2011?" Surprisingly only a handful of people could answer yes to that question! Check out the Featured Article on Goals and set aside some time to prepare for 2011 now rather than wait for New Year's Day.

We at Bridal Shows, Inc. want to help you reach your business goals! Let us know what we can do to assist you in growing your business.

  • 2010 Business Conference Review

Thank you to everyone that participated in The Business Conference, on Wednesday, November 17, at the Arlington Convention Center. In its fifth year, this full day educational event aims to motivate and inform business professionals with seminars, networking, round table discussions, and an exhibit floor. Sixteen speakers were on-site to answer questions and build businesses with topics ranging from marketing to branding and even improving one's memory! All in attendance were able to create valuable contacts as well as gather new ideas, products, and services to improve their business.

Barry Thompson from Group Dynamix got the day off to a fun start with several networking games to break the ice and get people talking.

A special thanks to our very talented group of speakers: Jeff Crilley, Naomi Hulme, Jonathan W. Bostick, David Dennard, Glenna Hecht, Jeff Klein, Mike Crow, Marcus Davidian, Jim Fortin, Tom Niesen, Howard Stephen Berg, Dr. Clint Herzog, Julie Bartlett, Barb Craft, Mike Newhouse, Dan Bennet and Alec Drake.

We also want to recognize all of our wonderful exhibitors! Click here to see a complete listing of the exhibiting companies.

Attendees and exhibitors got together to brainstorm and share ideas in our Round Table Discussions.

The staff from Bridal Shows, Inc. thanks everyone for their participation and welcomes testimonials!

    Naomi's Notes: "Opt In"
    by: Naomi Hulme, CEM

According to two of my staff members, they gave their version of the meaning of "opt in." (1) When one opts in to a service they are welcoming new ideas and information about something in particular, (2) the option of participating.

We have so many options in every aspect of our lives. It is up to each of us to choose those options that make the greatest impact. We learn something from everything that we do or don't do.

Opt In to New Ideas. Think inside and outside of the box. Be open to changing the way you have been doing things for years. It can be amazing what may happen.

Opt In to New Relationships. Work on meeting new people constantly and building new relationships to broaden your connections.

Opt in to New Opportunities. If we are always looking for new ways to learn and do, opportunities will find us.

Opt in to the Positive Side of the Challenge. We have all seen and heard of people that came through all kinds of hardships and came out on top because of never giving up, having that "I Can Do It!" attitude. If we focus on every single positive that we can find, there will be less negatives-the positives will help us overcome the negatives.

Goals: Why are they so important?

    By: Tal Fighel

Goal setting should really be defined as a person creating the future in advance by writing these goals on a paper and doing what ever it takes to make it happen.

Ok, what is the first step? You need to define a goal. You need to know exactly what you want, when you want it, and why you want it. That is your goal. If you don't know exactly what your goal is, you will not commit to it.

So you need to know what you want to achieve and WRITE it down on a piece of paper. Having your short term goal or long term goal in your head only may not help that much. Every book says that.

When you do write your goals down, you need to ask yourself one important question. Is this goal realistic? Can you really make it work and come true? Do you really believe that you can reach it? Faith is also an important ingredient that can make or break your goal. If you don't think or believe that you can make your goal a reality, then you probably won't.

You need to have faith in yourself. You need to have faith in your goals. You need to have faith that you can reach any goal that you set.

You then need to determine what price, what's the worthiness of that goal. What level of importance are you going to put on it? Is it a want? Is it a need? Is it, "It would be nice to have it"?

You need to make that goal a burning desire. You need to make it a must. It is a "Have to have it no matter what" goal. If you do that then your subconscious mind will look for ways to make that goal a reality. It will give you ideas on how you should go about to achieve it.

Now, short-term goals are usually simpler and easier than long-term goals. Why? Well, writing them can help you have more frequent victories, and building momentum with each one you complete. If you do that, you can have more excitement and more motivation as you reach those goals on time.

When you do reach your short-term goals, don't forget to reward yourself. This will show you that you can achieve any goal.

A word of warning for the long-term goals that you make. It will be harder to achieve it because as the time goes by, you can get discouraged and lose your interest. Try to set short-term goals. It will keep you more focused and motivated.

If you haven't achieved your short-term or long-term goal, you will need to look at your goal and change the date, and the action that you have taken when you didn't reach that goal. Remember, if you take the SAME action that led you to failure then you will probably get the SAME results. You need to take a look from all angles to see what you did and what you can change.
